Anybody know the name of these little armored vehicles. Madison county community news network posted this pic the other day. I was thinking it was a ferret but I'm pretty sure I'm wrong. Goofy looking thing whatever it's called.

V100 Commando. The Air Force used them a lot for base security in the Nam. Built by Cadillac in several different versions.

Thanks all I've been sitting trying to think of what is. Anderson swat is using some pretty dated equipment. A couple pick up bed humvees and the goofy looking commando. I think a larger armored vehicle makes more sense for most swat call outs that would need that type of thing. I don't see much utility with the commando but maybe I'm wrong.

This unit has been renamed it is no longer called the V100.

In Portland this is the only safe way to get the kids to soccer. It is now just titled the family grocery getter on the west coast.

I think a lot of police agencies used those in the 80's and 90's before they had purpose-built vehicles like the Lenco Bearcat.

It's better than nothing and certainly better than using an unarmored van.

They used those after hurricane Katrina.
They don't seem to be spacious vehicles since the team has to sit on top of it.

I guess it's a little bigger than I thought (get your mind out of the gutter). Watched a video where an owner said all the parts can be had at local auto shops so I guess as far as long term use it probably makes more sense than a bear cat or mrap.
