    Just a note on the shooting with both eyes open thing with reddots, it doesn't work well with a lazy eye.

    When I try this my left eye looks down the sight and my right looks at the ground, which splits the image.

    Just one thing to consider with them.

    I have a similar problem; my right eye wanders up and out when I concentrate on the left.

    That said, on my go-to M4 I have the fixed carry handle, and a red dot clear of the irons. Probably wouldn't put a magnifying scope on an AR anymore; I have better stuff to reach out and touch someone.

    I am a big fan of the durability of iron sights and the fact that they don't take batteries. I think it's funny though that these days you can get a scope or a red dot sight for less money than iron sights.
