Been driving a Jeep out West since 2012. Learned some basics in a mostly stock 2010. Bought a 14 half door 6sp soft top new. A lot of great adventures in CA, AZ, UT and CO. So much more to see, but thinking about another plan.

In a couple months we'll be traveling in a van, and thought about pulling a trailer with a UTV on occasion. I don't want to flat tow or drive the Jeep separately. May sell the 14 Jeep in this better used market. I don't have social media, any recommendations for a place to sell?

I finally decided to put it up for sale. I posted it in the INGO non-firearms For Sale area.

    That's a nice looking Jeep!

Me, I still have my XJ torn apart in my garage. The PO "bubbafied" it pretty good(bad?).

Once I get it mechanically sound, I'll start working on some light modifications.

I'm leaning towards the overlanding type of rig. If I do anything other than mall crawling, it will forest service roads, and some "softroading".

After a year of owning my JK I got my lift installed today. I went with a 2.5” dual sport AEV. I am more than pleased with the way it handles. I’ve added the beginning and current pictures of it. I’m running 33” KO2’s. Maybe one day I’ll come up with a name for it.

Wow that JK is clean. Darth Vader or Darth Sahara. KO2s are the way to go on road and off.

I'm going to leave this here for everyone's info...

long story short - don't use a tow hitch for off-road recovery.

Knew a guy that was using a snatch strap and he backed way up to provide slack and then gunned it forward. The hook ripped off whatever he had it hooked to on the stuck vehicle. It came through the back window on this pick up truck lodging in the dash...taking his right bicep with it.

    It was pretty nasty.

I know people do put slack in those lines and use it to build some kinetic energy to "jerk" a stuck vehicle. I have never been a fan. You can get stuff out without doing that. It might just take more time, work and ingenuity.

Not a jeep but a SUV that at some time I might do a bit of upgrading on.

Have not driven in much yet as I have been working lots of extra hours to get it paid off first.

    Meet Sandy:
2009 FJ crusier all options but it is not a trails team edition. Never had regular gas in it always premium. All paperwork included ever oil change and tire rotation. Always 5k oil changes at the dealership. Beck Toyota. Purchased from the original owner who is the most obsessed person I have ever met about keeping things clean and maintained.

Not the best pictures but I have been busy. Maybe this fall it can get some pictures in the woods where it belongs.

Finally, after 5 weeks I've gotten my Jeep back. What should have been a simple re-gear/re-build of the diffs, normally taking 1 week turned in to a disaster. Small shop and I paid for parts and labor up front, with the statement that there'd be no surprise charges.

My fault? Maybe, due to shopping around and going with one of the cheaper options. I guess I'm this case the moto of "you get what you pay for" hurt me. The shop originally quoted me 1 week, maybe a few additional days if they ran into issues which was acceptable. The shop lacked communication and when I'd reach out there was always an excuse. After 4 1/2 weeks I started demanding my Jeep back, and I reached out daily and the response was always similar. "Wrapping up a few things, should be ready tomorrow." At the 5 week mark I finally blew up and decided I'd just go get it, regardless of condition.

Gears and diffs were back together, rear driveshaft completely disconnected a laying in the backseat. Locked it in 4wd and drove home on the front wheels. Within the next couple hours swapped out rear u-joints, reconnected driveshaft and back on the road.

Happy to have the Jeep back!

Do NOT use Sub-Zero Off-Road if you need work done... unless of course you don't need/want your vehicle back for a long time.

Yeah, I'm probably not going to go any shop that is specifically "off-road". I stopped by one here in Bloomington and the guy behind the counter didn't even know what services they offer and their labor rates are higher than a typical shop.

Working on Jeeps and the like are not a lot different than working on anything else. If a mechanic is worth his/her salt, they can work on anything.

Find a good shop, ask them how they are working on Jeeps and as long as the answer is satisfactory, work with them. I found a shop when I was having some bearings pressed off/on while rebuilding my front diff. I used that as a gauge whether I would use them for other work. I will. I also made sure to ask some questions when I was dropping off and picking up the carrier and pinion.

Glad you got it back and everything's good to go! Enjoy it.

Finally have another Jeep. Sold my 03 Cummins Crewcab long bed to pay cash for a roof on our house. With the difference I bought a YJ. First 2 pics are the day I got it the second two are as it sits today. The lift is a Rubicon Express "2.5 inch" and a set of M.O.R.E. boomerang shackles. Needs new tires and I’m looking for another of those wheels for a spare, I just have no idea what the wheel is.

Extreme Performance Racing car parts store in Bloomington

Don't let the name concern you. Though they do performance work, most of what they do is day in, day out repairs.
