That thing looks in GREAT shape! LOVE the sound of the little 4 cylinder engines! Every time I hear one in a war movie, it makes me wish I had one!
:) was waiting for you to see it. Watching this thread helped seal the deal. I am hoping to try and hit the Badlands and find out about some other trails here and there. Saving up for a new to me trailer to get it from a to b for wheeling and if I want to go up and see the folks.

With the help of friends and my nephew's lift, the JK received an AEV Dualsport XT 2.5" lift yesterday. I took off the old AEV 2" spacer lift that served well for many years. The new springs and Bilstein shocks feel great! It raised it up at least a full inch. I also put Tera Flex 1/2" spacers on the front to take away most of the forward rake. I'm looking forward to taking it off-road!

Next up for that old JK....
    • Rugged Ridge Arcus front bumper
    • New fog lights
    • AEV Geometry correction brackets
    • Rancho rear diff rock slider
    • New synthetic rope for the winch
    • Adjustable front track bar to center the axle
    • Rugged Ridge Spartan body-width rear bumper
    • Upholsterer to fix hole in front cloth seat.
I'll be starting on some of this tomorrow. I'll post pics as things come together.

Got the winch rope off and the surface of the drum was rusted. One bad thing about synthetic rope is the way it traps moisture. So I wire brushed it and sprayed it with Rustoleum Rust Reformer/Sealer. New rope will go in after the new bumper is installed.

So I'm going to work on that bumper tonight but before that I went ahead and changed the rear differential fluid and put the Rancho differential slider on the rear to shore up a classic JK Dana 44 weakness, which is the lip on the diff cover that can cause it to be peeled off if hit just right.

I love those new Valvoline syn gear lube bags, btw. No mess at all!

Well, went to install the Rugged Ridge Arcos bumper today. The good news: The bumper fits and looks great! The bad news: The winch plate was too wide to fit into its place between the frame rails by about 1/4", or slightly less. So I'll be calling RR tomorrow to see if this one is out of spec or if I'm going to have to cut it and weld it. Either way, I'll get it resolved. It is too nice a bumper not to. I also decided to replace the old but trusty Engo 10k winch. It still works as it always has, with lots of noise, but it never let me down. I'll put it up for sale. It'll have a brand new wire rope and roller fairlead to go with it off the new Smittybilt XRC9500.

It also turns out that the fog lights on the older JK's use a different bulb, so I"ll have to splice new connectors onto the old wires to get the new fog lights up and running. No biggie. So here is a pic...

Update: DIscovered that Amazon sent the wrong part. They sent the JL version. The only difference is the winch plate. So Amazon is senidng a new one, hopefully the correct part number, and I'll then ship back the plate along with the other pieces. Uggh.

Update 2. Amazon is shipping a new bumper out immediately, so I'm going to swap the boxes and just use the new winch plate and send everything else back. I got a deal on a Smitty XRC9500 and it arrived today. I'll be putting it all together next week and then splicing the fog lights. I love the look of the bumper and it grows on me even more every day. Hopefully Rugged Ridge will ship out the steering component skid plate soon, as well and the face lift will be complete, at least up front.

How's about some more power. Hemi, Hellcat, Demon and Hellephant swaps.

I saw one in Moab that I'm pretty sure had a Hellcat swap. It was done at a place called Dixie Four-Wheel Drive just south of town. They had a sandy area out front of their store that was a sort of test track. The Gladiator had a long arm suspension and I'd guess 40 inch tires with Dana 60 axles. It sounded incredible when on the pipe! And it was scary fast! I can't imagine what the price tag would be on a rig like that!

Got the new bumper from Amazon and it is the correct one. So probably Sunday the winch plate and winch gets on there. Then I have to pack everything else back up and ship it back to them.

I'll get some pics up when it gets put together.

Made some progress on the JK today. Thankfully, since Amazon sent the right bumper this time, I was able to get it installed, aloing with the new winch. I did about 95% of it myself. The only parts that turned out to be hard was removing and spooling up the winch cable and then threading the little screw to attach the new synthetic winch rope. I had to smash the metal end of the rope with a hammer to make it so the threads on the screw could get throug it.

The bumper looks exactly as I'd hoped it would. Now I have to splice the fog light wires to reach the new fog lights.

Next up will be the adjustable front track bar, geometry correction brackets, new A-pillar cube lights, and a new turn signal stalk. I'm still waiting on the Rugged Ridge steering component skid plate and rear bumper to arrive.
