Apparently, there was a new thing going around FB where anti gunners tried to make the case that the Second Amendment reference to a “well-regulated militia” was a restriction in 1791 to one musket and 24 bullets. The actual fact of the matter is that it was the minimum requirement, not the maximum.

As a matter of fact, they can't even get their dates right for their claims. That minimum requirement wasn't even a thing until a year later when the Uniform Militia Act of 1792, was passed by congress a year after the claim asserts. The stupid fools will try any angle.

Well, when the facts don't support your cause (anti-gunner's cause), then you throw the facts out.

Smith & Wesson CEO to anti-gun politicians.

"A number of politicians and their lobbying partners in the media have recently sought to disparage Smith & Wesson. Some have had the audacity to suggest that after they have vilified, undermined and defunded law enforcement for years, supported prosecutors who refuse to hold criminals accountable for their actions, overseen the decay of our country's mental health infrastructure, and generally promoted a culture of lawlessness, Smith & Wesson and other firearm manufacturers are somehow responsible for the crime wave that has predictably resulted from these destructive policies. But they are the ones to blame for the surge in violence and lawlessness, and they seek to avoid any responsibility for the crisis of violence they have created by attempting to shift the blame to Smith & Wesson, other firearm manufacturers and law-abiding gun owners.

It is no surprise that the cities suffering most from violent crime are the very same cities that have promoted irresponsible, soft-on-crime policies that often treat criminals as victims and victims as criminals. Many of these same cities also maintain the strictest gun laws in the nation. But rather than confront the failure of their policies, certain politicians have sought more laws restricting the 2nd Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens, while simultaneously continuing to undermine our institutions of law and order. And to suppress the truth, some now seek to prohibit the firearm manufacturers and supporters of the 2nd Amendment from advertising products in a manner designed to remind law-abiding citizens that they have a Constitutional right to bear arms in defense of themselves and their families.

To be clear, a Smith & Wesson firearm has never broken into a home; a Smith & Wesson firearm has never assaulted a woman out for a late-night run in the city; a Smith & Wesson firearm has never carjacked an unsuspecting driver stopped at a traffic light. Instead, Smith & Wesson provides these citizens with the means to protect themselves and their families.

We are proud of our 170-year history. We are proud of the commitment of our employees to making a quality product. We are proud to provide law-abiding citizens and law enforcement – our customers – with the tools to provide for their security and independence. We are proud of our responsible business practices.

We will continue to work alongside law enforcement, community leaders and lawmakers who are genuinely interested in creating safe neighborhoods. We will engage those who genuinely seek productive discussions, not a means of scoring political points. We will continue informing law-abiding citizens that they have a Constitutionally-protected right to defend themselves and their families. We will never back down in our defense of the 2nd Amendment."

I recently spoke with a friend that lives in England. He said that if someone breaks into your home, even if they are armed, YOU WILL GO TO JAIL if you harm them in any way
Hmm - seems a bit murkier:

This UK government site states that you have a right to defend yourself in your home, you just can't own any of the tools that might make it easier to do so.

You might (probably) be arrested, but it's not clear cut that you will be convicted. Their laws on the possession of self defense weapons are really bad (appropriate words would trigger forum filter).

More on self-defense laws from other countries compared to the U.S.

Edit: We all kow that the law and how it is applied are not the same at all times.

After the knives... it's the brickbats.

    John

If you go to the youtube video comments, you'll see some idiot saying the gun laws work and there is less GUN CRIME.
Ignores that the VIOLENT crime is high. And that more people are stabbed or acid attacked.

One nit to pick....he says their ultimate goal is to ban firearms.
Their ultimate goal is to exercise complete and total control over the USA.
Eliminating firearms in the hands of citizens is just a necessary step towards achieving their goal.

For their totalitarian utopia to exist, citizens must be reduced to subjects.

BTW, I think Colin is one of the best 2A proponents out there.

Shannon Watts trying to stay relevant.

She states that less gun permits, means the police will be "defunded".

Never mind the fact that the bill for CC took that into account and funded the police.

It's just money and it's not yours anyway.

This is why any corporate entities which prohibit employees or customers from being armed should be automatically considered an accessory to violent criminal attacks on customers or employees.

Have a couple CEO's end up in supermax, I would bet policies would change pretty fast.

You business, your rules, and YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
