    Yes, that is a Remington-Peters, in caps=R-P.
    You sometimes also see "REM-UMC".
The "UMC" is Union Metallic Cartridge"
I'm not really sure of the reasons, other than to spread out the Corporate logo. I guess the same goes for Winchester brass..
    Winchester
    Winchester-Western
    Western
    W-W
    Super X

All of these are made by Olin Corporation, under different logo head stamps.

    Then there is Federal
    Federal
    F-C
    Frontier
    Lake City (Some applications)
    L-C

Anyway--I think it is to just spread around the corporate logo..Bill.

Back in the early days of the 40cal. The .40 S&W wasn't introduced until 1990, so if it's 20 years old, its barely 20.

An., what I was refering to was the "Peters" ammo Co. I do not think that they have made ammo for 20 years or so. I was not speaking of the .40 S&W caliber.
Heck I have some shotgun loads that have only the Peters logo on them, No mention of Remington on the boxes...Bill.

Oh, I know. R-P has been the headstamp since the early 1930's when it purchased the Peters Cartridge Company. I was referring to the cartridge, not specifically the headstamp.

They shut the Peters plant down in the mid 1940's.

Right, the Peters and UMC brands were long ago absorbed in to Remington. They use the old logo names sometimes on new lines to differentiate and steal some of the old glory.

Frontier was Hornady's old cartridge brand. I still have a few boxes of 9mm and .45 FMJ Flat nose that Frontier loaded after some Air Force tests on more effective FMJ bullet design.
