Yup. Sucks. Cheapest on ammoseek is .18cpr but once you add the super inflated shipping charges most places are charging now and taxes, the .25cpr is about right a for FTF deal with no shipping or taxes involved.

However I will not be paying that

Crazy for el cheapo plinking grade ammo. I spent quite a bit less than that a couple days ago for some mid grade Eley. Actually almost regreting not buying more since it was only $1.50/box more than a year ago.

Was at Bud's Gun Shop in Sevierville, TN last week and they had 9mm for $24.99 , the "cheapest" I have seen since the craziness started. Still passed on it.

At Rural King in Munice they had 22lr at $8.99 a box , plenty of it there. They can keep that stuff at that price.

It's not too hard to find 9mm online for $0.38-$0.40 cpr regularly. Prices are definitely starting to come down. Of course, not as quickly as I'd like! :(

7.62x39 seems to be dropping the fastest. I've seen it as low as $5.79 a box of 20. I may need to get a bolt action Ruger, or CZ in 7.62x39 to take advantage. Or am I forming an elaborate excuse to buy another rifle?

Seeing it myself for .28 a round but if you look at ammoseek sellers the shipping is awful, had one place that wanted a 129.00 to ship 1000 rounds that was just the shipping price

Exactly why I haven't bought more yet. If it were only 20 for shipping, I'd have a case coming my way since I go through it a lot

I was at the gun show in Wayne Co. near Richmond and prices were and remain ridiculous. I mean CCI .22 LR mini-mags $25/100. Seriously? 9mm $30+/50 for 115 “no name”!!! .223/5.56 close or at $20/20. Ah, nope, not buying that! $1+/round most all center fire rifle. Fuggedabout it! Oh and in case you vendors didn’t think I noticed, the firearm prices were even more ridiculous. One example. - $469 for a basic Ruger 10/22. Really?

My local shop, ZX, had cases of 7.62x39 out on the floor for sale. I asked how much. I think he said $239 and I thought, wow, that is close to what I was paying before the pandemic panic But then I noticed they are 500 round cases.

Used car market looks just as bad.
I think we are too quick to blame the ammo availability/price crisis on one thing.

There is a lot going on that can affect these things besides the scamdemic and political 2A threats.

While inflation overall is not being reported on much for political reasons, things like fuel, housing, shipping, transportation, etc cannot help but be noticed.

You don't have to be a scientist or math wiz to understand that these are operating costs that must be absorbed into product pricing.

Federal's production is back up to speed and prices are falling forcing others to offer sales. Well, everywhere but gun shows. Those sellers will have to adjust prices pretty soon in order to sell anything.
Federal and CCI websites offer ammo considerably cheaper than the prices you cite. CCI website offer mini mags at $0.124/rnd.
Natchez Shooter Supplies is offering Blazer Brass 9mm for $0.44/rnd, free shipping over $250.
Freedom Munitions is offering 9mm 124gr for $0.36/rnd with free shipping.

5.56 American Eagle 55 gr at Cabelas yesterday for $74.99 box of 100. They had some generic target ammo of 223 for $89.99 for box of 150. Plenty of both on the shelves.

...yeah but most of those inflated gun show price tags are from Jan '13. they had a small window of opportunity last year and if they haven't sold their Obama-era 22lr yet they'll have to wait for the next crisis/shortage.

Winchester M193 150 round packs are $100 at Cabelas today. That's 67 cents per round which is the lowest I have seen at that store. Still way too high but it continues to slowly inch downward.

Wow, I just sold out of Winchester M193 at the store today for 63 cents per round and I thought THAT was expensive. It seems to get a little cheaper every time the truck comes though, so things are improving.

Lots of other calibers have gotten MUCH cheaper than they were not long ago, some have remained high though. 6.5 Carcano, 5.7x28, .22-250, 6.5 Grendel, 6.5 Creedmoor, .243, .22 mag, .458 SOCOM and many more have come way down in the last few weeks. Some are even close to what they were 2 years ago! Not only that, but we are getting ammo faster than it's selling, so many calibers are finally starting to stay in stock. The only ammo we have limits on is the 5.7x28 for $42.06 plus tax (limit 1 box, and it's almost gone). NCM_0094.JPG
