    Near the big river.
Christmas present for my #2 grandson, he is 10 and a military nut. Wood and brass case is from my dad. It is marked Berndorf 1892 on the bottom, suspect my great uncle brought it back from WW1. Dad cut and dried the lumber. Marine insignias are from my uniforms. Turned the bullet from wood, the pull chain is a 45 ACP.

Built the wife’s little dog a new house. Its pretty big for 1 Frenchie but I assume there will be another in the future So I have a divider that can be taken in and out to make it a single or double cage. Also hinged the top for easier cleanin. Turned out pretty good for my first one. Kreg jigs are amazing!

yep the cat feels he is entitled to sleep in there as well. LOL

Finished the 2nd dog kennel for a buddy today. He wanted a 1 cage and TV/entertainment comb. It’s got som flaws but I’m learning more on each one I do. Best part is I don’t have to paint any of this one.

Looks like woodworking to me. A room roughly 18’x25’ with pine tongue and groove walls. I sanded every board before hanging them, then filled the vertices joints and sanded them and sanded every horizontal groove. The heavy duty sanding is done. After lunch, sweeping and vacuuming then sanding sealer. Oh, and star of this show has been the radial arm saw. That was my Dad’s that he bought in 1968. It’s a well-made heavy Craftsman. Remember when top quality tools carried the Craftsman name and could be purchased at Sears?

Built a just-big-enough table to cover the dog crate. There were commercial versions available but I’m frugal and wanted to expand my finer woodworking skills...

Shows the difference between 50+ year old, made in the USA craftsmanship and 10 year old made in China...but cheap.
Over the years I have acquired numerous "vintage" typewriter tables from various auctions, garage sales, etc. like this...

    Vintage-Industrial-Hon-Hi-Lo-Metal-Drop-Leaf-Rolling-Typewriter.jpg

I buy every one of them I came across. I probably have 7 or 8 of them now. They are super handy and hold up to way more abuse than anything new. They seem to have a pretty standard height even across different brands so you can throw sheet of plywood on top of 4 of them and have a nice big work table.

Also great for parking next to the grill for some extra work space.

The basement project continues. Ceiling done. It is bead board panels. I have 6 access panels in strategic places to access systems in the ceiling above. Next step, floors, but those aren't "woodworking". I put the lights up yesterday. If you are still putting light cans in ceilings, more power to you, but these 4" ultra-thin LED lights are the bee's knees.

Just got the faux post and beams installed in the basement. Working on door and window trim now. That should be done in a couple of days. Then, baseboards. I pledged to myself- no pictures of the project until it is done.

Anyhoo, we are coming close to finishing, so we ordered furniture, a big leather sectional and chair, and my wife is ordering area rugs.

Because I am a glutton for punishment, I went looking for coffee tables....didn't find anything I liked, so decided to get an unfinished one and stain it to match the "accent color" that the faux beams and trim is....and then decided that this was not difficult enough.

Therefore, I just bought 2 live edge walnut slabs to make a coffee table and end table....because I'm not busy enough. I will post updates as that project progresses.

At long last, the epic basement project is finished…from a construction standpoint. Furnishings are yet to be added. Furniture was ordered weeks ago and it will be weeks before it arrives, so no hurry to get the TV up. Besides, I have now embarked upon building a coffee table, end table and console table for under the TV.

The basement consists of a family room, an exercise room a craft room (that will eventually be my office) and a mechanical room/shop. No pics of the craft room or mechanical. The craft room looks just like the exercise room and the mechanical room looks….disastrous. I started in late August ‘20 with thoughts that I would be done by Christmas. I missed that goal by about 8 months. All work of every kind was done “in house.” I would like to extend my sincere thanks to my patient wife and to YouTube.
