Rear trunnion would be the least of my worries. You don’t sound like an AK guy by asking-
No one was an "AK guy" till they were by asking questions and gaining knowledge through experience. I've only had a couple through the years and didn't take enough interest in them to do any deep dives on them. I could shoot them, field strip one and clean it. Now I'm taking more of an interest in them

Anyone have any hands-on experience with Pod Arms .223 followers, for better or worse? I snagged a few to test out but haven't had a chance to get to the range yet. These things replace the followers in 5.45 mags, to give you more access to the plethora of AK-74 mags for your 5.56/.223 AK. I'm kinda digging the look of old bakelite and plum in a new Beryl.

The guy Sully is really cool, wants to make sure you had a good experience with his product. I had received one and hooked it up to a 74 plum into a 106 and to my surprise ran absolutely flawless. There was no hiccups with the last 2 rounds, no stacking failures nothing. I got another plum at the 1500 Saturday with another follower already in transit. For those who need to know You can catch him over at the Ak Forum or over at the Files.

So that's with 30 rounds loaded I presume? Very good to know. I tend to load my range mags with 20 rounds (one box per mag - just a bit easier/faster for me), but it's good to hear that yours works with 30.

This is more an AK adjacent question:

Does anybody have experience with the sks that takes AK mags? I'm wondering if there is a specific type/make of ak mag that works best in this specific sks model. I'm shopping them and I'm curious if they're picky about mags.

I had one years ago...... And I think there's one in the classified section if it didn't sell.

It ran with any ak mag I used, not picky at all.

Thank you for the input. I found the one you mentioned in the classifieds.

Any particular reason you got rid yours?

I've decided for MY optic mount I'm going with a RMR upper for my Midwest Industries handguards. While I'm certain that the RS Regulate mount is better, I'm more concerned about the balance of the rifle.

Milled receiver is heavy, I'd rather add the weight forward over the barrel. I already have a Trijicon SRO on a Glock that I don't shoot much. I'm waiting for a Jagerwerks BROS to mount it.

The Midwest Industries handguards are solid and square to the receiver. The mount clamps to the barrel then both handguards mount to that. Should be a lower 1/3 co-witness.

As you can see.....there's more lower tang than is needed. It's not in the way but it's ugly. Haven't decided if I'll live with it or buzz it down. Still waiting for a BROS mount for the Trijicon SRO, but I like it's position and sight picture.

I was looking at the 4pc booster zpap from cncwarrior but I've never seen any of their stuff before. Not worth it?

Got some Hungarians in right now.
Think I'm gonna grab that kit and build it out myself. I can save about $300 that way. $600 for the kit, $150 for the receiver and $100 for a PSA barrel. Already have a set of rivets

I have never tackled an AK build. I always heard they were more challenging than an AR and some specialty tools were needed. I guess that is why my Saiga is still sitting around in parts unconverted.

It's definitely not as simple for sure. Fortunately I have a shooting friend who's an AK nerd and is a machinist that's built several. I've looked at his personal builds and the work is quality.

I should probably get more mags here soon. With all the shootings going on, I worry about the GOP holding together.
