You might want to PM Indygunworks, but when we bought copper washed barry's at the 1500 9mm was $40/500 and I think 4cal was $45.... if that. Thats why we bought 6000 rounds. (this is a reloaders price not assembled ammo)

I didn't only switch to 9mm for the cost, but more for the availability. I've been able to find 9mm for the most part to shoot in matches, but .40 has been very rare.

.40 isn't typically cheaper than 9mm but, from what I've seen is usually 30% more (apples to apples). That's because twice as much 9mm is mfg. worldwide than other centerfire pistol rounds (not together, but singly).

I've had the opposite. I'm able to find more 40 than I could handle. I can find 9mm, too, but everyone's doing a 1 or 2 box limit and I'm in a ****** town where our Wal-Mart either doesn't get any or the Sporting Goods guy is hoarding it all.

I could have bought 5 cases of 40 S&W yesterday...

Well where I have been doing the majority of my ammo shopping. FMJ is pretty much the same for 9mm, and .40. Maybe a $1-$2 difference. As for JHP, I bought a few boxes of the Ranger in each 9mm, and .40. I pad $21 a box for both calibers.

Traditionally, .40 is a bit more expensive to buy off of the shelf, and the others have done a great job showing you some numbers to base that on. But in today's market, its all about being at the right place at the right time. At one point I saw 9 FMJ priced about $4 higher per 100 than .40.... went down the road 2 miles, and it was just the opposite. At this point, it's almost like a treasure hunt and anyones guess as to what you will find around the next corner!

Saw a couple boxes of .40 at Carmel walmart last night, also had a couple boxes of 9mm same brand. I think the difference was about $4 (12.97 vs. 8.97 for 9mm) so it seems .40 is generally more expensive....
