I'm wondering if anyone has used the 140gr pills for the Grendel? I tried to find some load data and none that I could find. Has anyone played with this idea? If so can you share your results?

I'd like to try the heavy for caliber bullets and I'm thinking accuracy might increase as well as drop in velocity, but the accuracy would make up for it.

Another reason is its tough to find at times like these the lighter bullets for 6.5 Grendel, but a unlimited supply of 140gr.

What do you have for powder? I've had the best results with XBR8208. Here's some loads I've tried with Hornady's 140gr BTHP projectiles to get you started. My pistol is DOBA (dead on balls accurate) out to 300yds.

    24.0gr 8202; col 2.26; Avg Velocity-1905; SD-9.1; Alexander Arms 11.5" pistol; 1:7.5 twist
    27.0gr CFE223; col 2.26; Avg Velocity-1892; SD-13.4; AA 11.5" pistol upper; 1:7.5 twist
    24.0gr H335; col 2.26; Avg Velocity-1848; SD 15.2; AA 11.5" pistol upper; 1:7.5 twist
    25.8gr 8208; col 2.26; Avg Velocity-2227; SD 14.4; 20" rifle upper; 1:8 twist

I did manage to find a Speer document with 140gr load data. I also thought I had a Sierra sheet with 140 stuff on it, but I can't find it.

Thanks for the information. I've got 8208xbr, CFE223, and TAC.

My rifle is a 1-8 18" barrel. So thr velocity should be several hundred fps faster out of it.
Now I know where to start.

I tried 140s years ago but ran out of room in the case to get adequate powder and velocity. The heaviest I shoot now are 125gr Partitions. I use CFE223 and get 2500fps. I think that's a bit slow for that bullet. I also load the 100gr Partitions and can get 2800fps using A2520.

I should mention my rifle is a Howa Mini and I can load the cases a little longer than AR15 mag length.

    Thanks, Dinny

The Speer manual he posted shows all loads compressed for the powders I use.

I just ran across this post, and I know it’s an old one, but I’ll share what I have anyways. I tried the 143 ELD-X in one of my Grendels it has a 22” barrel. I tried 8208 XBR, AR Comp, and Power Pro Varmint. I only wrote down the length I measured with the Hornady comparator, and it was 1.635”. I am not sure what that is in overall length. From 5 shot groups:

    PP Varmint
    26.4 gr, 2274.4 FPS Average, 11.1 SD, 29 ES
    26.7 gr, 2293.6 FPS Average, 17.6 SD, 50 ES
    27.0 gr, 2313.0 FPS Average, 2.6 SD, 8 ES
    27.4 gr, 2354.6 FPS Average, 15.8 SD, 50 ES
    27.7 gr, 2414.3 FPS Average, 26.1 SD, 63 ES

How was the accuracy with the pp varmint 27gr load?
its been a while, didn't think that it was that great because I never used this load. So I went and dug up the target and looks like I bailed on the 27.7 after three shots probably saw pressure I didn't like. My target would have been at 103 yards. 328481710_1172143953472062_4607738778271353792_n.jpg
