Getting ready to start loading for the .300 Win Mag.
I have loaded most all calibers of Metallic Centerfire, both Rifles and handguns, but no belted magnums..
    Any thoughts would be appreciated..
    THANKS Bill.

I have two Remington bolts and a Browning bar in 300 WM. I use the same 190 SMK load for the bolts and a 180 SBT gameking in the bar.
Brass is kept bolts or autoloader. 4-5 loads and into the recycle bucket.
I use a small base sizer die with all of them.

Reloaded for both 300 Win and 300 Wea, Slow powders, magnum primers, and bullets like Creedmoor is using produce good results. I don't shoot them much.

Yes, better to head space off the shoulder. Anyone familiar with “shoulder bumping” will eliminate the need for the belt sizing correctly with a FL die. H1000, h4350, h4831sc are all good choices. H1000 being the dominant king by a landslide. I prefer 225gr projectiles if shooting past 1200.

I'm shooting a Seekins PH2 300wm. Running 212 ELD-X bullets in front of 76.6 of H1000. I shoulder bump .002" from a fire formed Peterson case in that rifle. Gun shoots phenomenal out to 1200 so far. I killed an Elk this year at 830yds in CO with it. Bullet his just behind the shoulder and was recovered behind the opposite shoulder just under the skin. Elk dropped in his tracks.

I shoulder bumped my brass for the 1st couple of reloading. When doing the 3rd reload I tried to full length resize the brass and could not get the brass completely into the die. The die cut off a fine "wire" of brass from the case just above the belt. I never had a problem closing the bolt when loading/shooting. RCBS die, Hornady and Winchester brass, Savage rifle.

Just finished working up several loads using 130gr JSP bullets. I don't like to run really high pressures. Lower pressures make for better accuracy, longer lasting guns and brass. It also makes ammo more forgiving when the temperature goes up. Even though working pressure on banded magnums is around 65,000 I prefer to stay down around 60,000.

Powder / Charge / Bullet / Estimated Pressure
    =====================================
    IMR4831 / 82gr / 130gr JSP / 55,000
    IMR4320 / 74gr / 130gr JSP / 60,000 \

I love seeing that 130gr bullet shattering a water filled beverage can when it hits at close to 3400fps! ...or 1 gal milk jug!

So far, I'm really liking the 300 Win Mag.

    I took some pictures:

I have three in 300 win mag, I load with small base dies doing a full resize each time.
I just load two different Sierra 190 grainers and I tend to push them hard.
Maybe four or five loads and I trash the brass.

Just read it headspaces on the belt but more accurate if headspace is using the shoulder. Which means loading for one rifle only I imagine.
