9/24/2021 Notes: I made a good effort to only shoot during the lulls with the wind coming more or less straight from behind. The cross-hairs on my Simmons are very nearly the same width as the black dots on the target, so precise aiming is less than ideal. I would assume accuracy is still relatively representative due to using a sturdy rest.

Looks like CCI SV is the best subsonic round out of a 10/22? I can’t find any of the heavier 42gr stuff

I know Remington bulk 40gr goes super in my barrel

The RWS Target Rifle I tried earlier this morning looks promising.

Edit: Looks like DS had good results from it as well.

Hopefully more people will post their results. I'd like to know if Eley force is producing good results in the majority of firearms. It was very consistent compared to the other types/brands shot.
My biggest surprise was the $2.99 Agulia Super Extra 40gr. For the price it shot Extremely well and even out shot many higher priced ammunition.
I can’t click my stopwatch that quick or I would!

I was wanting to do some shooting today.
I just seen the forecast of 20-30 mph winds with gusts upto 50 mph. I'll wait for a better day.
Would have been an fun day to try some longer range stuff with tracers. Watch the bullet go this way, then that way, then a third direction, then maybe, maybe finally impact in a neighboring county.

From what I've seen about Winchester ammo lately, should at least be entertaining.
Dad shot a 10 shot group with his Rossi RS22.
Over 2" at 50yds, but he shot 8 of them in 1.6" group and two strays. So I imagine if everything was perfect he could have squeezed 1.5" 10 shot group. His neck was hurting so he wasn't at his best. I'll try them in my 10/22 maybe tomorrow or Saturday.

Does anyone have any ammunition they would like me to test velocity and accuracy that I haven't so far?
I plan on getting back to testing this fall, and winter.
I'm starting to see more 22lr getting back on the shelves, but most of it I've already tested.
I'm always on the lookout for something different to try.

I don't have any ideas on other types to test, but I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed following your test results on here. Thanks for posting them for us.

What barrel length? What profile barrel? Barrel band or not? Twist rate? Any chamber work done? This is all helpful data to those looking to wring the most accuracy out of a given platform.
Yup. Change anything about a rimfire rifle and you might need a whole new round of testing. Surprised to see the FORCE out shooting the Subsonics. Stock Ruger chamber may help explain that. Were you seasoning the barrel for each ammo before testing?

I find that if I position the dot inside one of the 90° corners of the cross hair and try to make it touch both the vertical and the horizontal, it makes for a better aiming point. 16668086349111441892521983413402.jpg

Not sure I understand the seasoning part. My understanding of seasoning is breaking it in, it's well past that point. I've shot it thousands of rounds since 1995 when I bought it.
I ran a bore snake between each group and I fired 10 shots through the chronograph, then 10 shots about 30 sec to a minute apart at the target from a rest. So each type of ammunition was shot 20rds.

The thought on it is each brand of .22 has it's own lube, alloy, finish and when changing ammo it takes 5-25 shots to clean out the old stuff and lay a layer of the new stuff inside the barrel for uniform performance. IE shoot brand A for a while so the barrel's seasoned for it (has a layer of that lube/alloy inside the barrel) then switch to brand B, the first few shots of brand B will be less consistent until the barrel's re-seasoned for brand B.

I understand the concept and rationale but haven't messed with hunting around for THE ammo in order to play with seasoning, I just found what was good enough and stuck with it.

This is what I stock for plinking. Seems accurate enough, but I just now starting to get the itch to actually shoot for groups. 20221026_165017.jpg
