Thanks for the props Haven. Doing better than the staff at the Indy Star is a low bar, but I'll take the props. ;)
There has to be at least one real journalist still at the Indy Star. They probably keep that person around to help figure out what the shouldn't do by doing the exact opposite of what the journalist suggests.

My grandmother is probably spinning in her grave over what is considered journalism these days.

Free access to State Parks for Vets. That's the kind of pandering that I like.

...and wants to engage in a different kind of pandering. (A better solution would be to eliminate property taxes for homesteads/primary residences.)
This one looks like it is a solution but it will kill the real estate market. In order to get your property taxes frozen, you have to be over 65 and have lived in the property for at least 10 years.

If you sell at 70 because you no longer need that 5BR home on 10 ac and buy a new 1200sf ranch on a 0.16ac lot, you loose the 10 year protection and you are again subject to annual property tax adjustments.

This one is interesting. HOAs (and seed patent owners) will not be pleased:
Screw the HOAs and seed patent owners. GMO seeds should be banned.

What problem/issue is this one attempting to resolve?
Developers don't get paid for the land that they have to give up for the additional right of way. By making municipalities use eminent domain to get the additional right of way, the developer will get paid fair market value for the land. They see this as solving a taking issue. Otherwise many view it as an additional tax in the form of a user fee.

called for both at lunch. Got an answering machine for representative McNamara. Spoke to Josh a staffer for representative Thompson. He was nice and I thanked him for his time.

Also, when I left a message for Wendy McNamara, I pointed out that the fix Nantz Bill had passed the Senate three times

We could barely get enough republicans to pass constitutional carry. Can you imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth by those same republicans if we seriously considered removing the gun free school zone stuff?
Having appropriate firearm carriers in school zones is the only appropriate way to prevent and stop active school shooters so I am not particularly sure what other solutions that will be posed; excluding the unconstitutional dissolution of second amendment rights. SMH
