Went out with pops today on Eagle Creek, caught over 40 on minnows and black/chartreuse jigs, kept 20 crappies and three catfish. 17 of the crappies still had eggs.

Going out again to catch the dawn/morning activity, I’ll follow up tomorrow!

Also: First time out fishing with dad in probably ten years. I was quite rusty, we lost an anchor (really bad snag), some of our minnows died off pretty quick, and I’m a little sunburnt, but it was a great time.

My brother and I pulled some decent fish out of a tiny creek this week. These are larger than what I was catching at the river last week. We also got to watch a few Eagles take out a hawk that got too close to their nest, it was like being on a set for National Geographic!

Damn I wish I had gotten out over Memorial Day weekend at Eagle Creek to try the crappie. I used to know several crappie spots and one hot spot in particular, but it`s been years since I`ve fished there. I love catching crappie, and I think crappie are the best eating fish on the planet.

Oh well, maybe shortly I`ll get some chicken liver and head to Eagle Creek to try and pull out a few channel cats for a fish fry for the wife and I.

Dad and I got back out on Eagle Creek earlier this week, first time the kids have been fishing in 5-6 years due to mom’s health troubles and well, kids being kids.

Bagged 20 crappie and 13 catfish. My daughter had the record for the day with a 16” cat until I pulled out my big boy at the end of the day - 18.5”, 4.5#!

I had a spare 30 mins after a couple side jobs, then I found a pond I saw a couple summers ago that I've been thinking about since.
I caught my p.b. largie! I didn't get a weight but I know it was over my previous p.b. of 4.75lbs.

    Dadgum man...
Measured my rod as a reference, and looked up average weights per length online. It was just shy of 20", which puts it at about 4.5 lbs... not a p.b. but im ok with it. It made my day, and a number won't take my joy away.

The first weeks of June brought heavy rains to the lower MS valley. The big 4 lakes closed their gates to reduce the amount of flooding down river. I kayaked and fished the lower lake at Sardis twice the third week. Caught my limit of 15 crappie both trips, released all catfish. My keep was 9 to 12 inches. A gar liked my jig and took me for a ride until it took off and broke the 4 lb line.

I headed out this morn to do a little bass fishing a little later than I like but it was nice. 3rd on the lake so I headed to the far end for privacy. It was enjoyable watching the eagles and osprey compete for breakfast. No bass hits and then it happened. Crop duster and I was was right under his turn around. I think he must have sprayed halt of the county. Let the south wind drift me to the other end of the lake and picked up a mess of 'gills on the way. End of rant. Jay

Took the 2 boys and son in law out on a charter this morning. We went out of Holland MI with Sufishient Charters. Salmon weren’t biting that great but we still got 2, along with a bunch of lake trout. It rained pretty good at one point so we got wet. Still came away with a pretty good haul.

I was on Wawasee Wednesday and had a duster over me. Just small gills and perch that day. And jet skis.
