CM I don’t think a lot of people know how much really goes into a proper restoration. It looks easy on tv but I’m reality can get to be very complicated and expensive.
More so than about anything else we do to cars/trucks.
Finding the proper parts and pieces.......:wow:

The engine in that TD was most critical as to hand fit clearances. The oil pump rebuild kit (once found) required hours and hours to do properly and some mill time to set the bushings in spec.
The crank/rod bearings had to be set in by hand. What an amazing journey.

Yes it does have the SU carbs
I have not checked the oil level in them. I didn't expect to bring this home, I just fell into it.
I have a big learning curve.
I also brought home a **** ton of spare pare parts.
You will be surprised if hey are low and how much improved they get with the "Right" oil.

Good thing you have a lot of spares because you will need them. I owned a Triumph Spitfire when I was stationed in England. Loved that car, but all I ever did was work on it. The stories about the Lucas magic smoke are real.

I stood near a Spitfire Miata swap for the same reason.

Fun fact: With no drivetrain, 2 average guys can easily wheel barrel a Spitfire around on its rear axle. Easily.
