    Freedom , yes really Freedom
My newly acquired Norwegian Kongsberg Colt "1911" m1914 .... interesting WWII 1911 history with these beauties, mine serialized to just after the nazi occupation in 1945. However out there in the world exist 920 of these from 1945 that bare a waffenamt german proof mark. That's right! Nazi marked 1911's out there if you weren't aware.
Mine is missing original grips (slightly modification on left slabs on these) and original magazine. Though the mags are not serialized so I may just order one (They have a lanyard loop).

A couple of months ago Sportsman's Warehouse was closing out some hiking boots at about half off. They had some my wife liked so I bought them. About a week later I started getting fan mail for what would be on sale that week, and this popped up:

    EAA Girsan MC1911 S Hunter 10mm Auto 6in Green Pistol - 8+1 Rounds

    1911 Check
    10mm Check
    Long slide Check
On sale for $549.99 with free shipping and no transfer fee. Shut up and take my money!

I've heard Rock Island makes a double stack 10mm. If this is true don't tell me. I don't want to have to 'splain myself again.

Yes. Twice. When I picked it up at the store, I racked it and did a function check. It started oozing oil. I guess somewhere in Turkey they have taken old squeeze mustard bottles and put oil in them. They must think the barrel is a hot dog because they were not stingy with the oil. I got it home and cleaned it up and took it to the range. First mag 2 stove pipes, mag follower caught side of mag once. Second mag 1 stovepipe. Third mag on, booya. It was new and I wasn't freaked out. My Beretta did the same thing when new. I have a Glock 40. The long sight radius helps. This has a red fiber optic front and adjustable rear sight. I am old and like bright glowy front sights. It's a beast so it soaks up recoil and is fun to shoot. I wish I was better with words and could come up with solid reasoning for why I bought this, but really I just wanted it. Even the guys in the store said the deal was amazing. Posted on a Friday and out of stock Sunday. I was just lucky and jumped at the right time. I've been burned more than once doing the wait and see thing. At 7-10 yards is there much of a difference between pistols? Probably not. At 25 yards I was hitting a 12"X12" target with no problem. I'm not $2500-$4500 pistol good so even if I had the money I wouldn't. I'm more of a $500-$750 pistol with $1000 in ammo kinda guy. I feel good about what I paid and what I got. It only came with 1 mag, however I bought a Mec-gar to go with it and it runs fine.

Very nice. I have a 10mm myself. Paid more and got less (Ruger) I'm gonna get one of those one day. I'm kinda on a vintage .22 kick these days.

Actually our Rugers are the ones that are most fun to shoot.
We have a 10/22 and this

I posted the story up thread. If I could've found a Ruger or Remington 6" 10mm I would have bought one but I quit looking after awhile. Guys over on the Kimber board were slamming the Camp Guard so that was off the list. The price made me do it.

My rock island armory 1911 FS tactical I've had it for years now well over 8000 rounds down the factory tube and probably about 1000 through the Swanson drop in comp barrel. I've only had to replace the recoil spring due to me wearing it out. Great and accurate pistol though I love it!

The red slide is my .22LR Wilson combat conversation slide.

I'm ashamed that I don't shoot this more (less than 300 rounds). It's an excellent shooter; I just get distracted by the other stuff. Time to break her in.

Please forgive the question. With all due respect to our dearly missed late Church mouse. Who's our go to 1911 guy in Indy.

I need to upgrade the sights on my colt 1911.

    RIP CM.
