I've been wanting to customize a blued delta elite for a long time and was unwilling to pay insane amounts of money for beat-to-hell deltas online. I knew I could just build up a carbon steel Caspian slide and frame set but it wouldn't be the same.

Earlier this week I discovered I could just get a slide and get all new parts for everything else.

I won this on eBay this morning and can't wait to start accumulating parts to realize my dream.

    Couple questions
What finish is that? Looks like a darkened stainless and was the barrel crowned when you got it or is that AllenM work....I love that pistol
That is a Ceracoat that Allen blended for effect and yes he crowned the barrel. That is a Harrison design thick bushing to achieve the depth.
I love this one as well. Turned out well for an SA Stainless loaded.

So here is the latest “fix” for my 1911 addiction. Colt lightweight Commander that AllenM had shown some love to. Was formerly dark OD Cerakote. I just couldn’t get over the color. Allen worked his Cerakote magic with a titanium frame and midnight blue slide. Added the VZ Operator III grips (like them but damn the front area is very pointy, almost painful) and this one is ready for a workout on paper and some steel. View attachment 142617
Did Allen do the Browning cut and Bobtail?

I will not be intimidated by all your bigger, fancier, and deeper collections of 1911 pistols; I got this beauty a year and a half ago, my first firearm after 20 years of kid-raising and life in California. It's 15% smaller than a conventional 1911, easy to carry, quick, smooth and accurate; upgraded the grips, and it's a blast at the range. A small slice of history, chambered in 380.

Cool little gun. I have the 22 version. Lots of fun.

P.s. welcome to INGO, and America!

I think a large fancy 1911 collection comes with age. You look like you have many years to achieve you goal. And welcome to Indiana

New addition to the 1911 collection. CMP round 2 Field Grade.
Remington Rand frame (1942), Colt slide (1942), Springfield Arsenal rebuild.
Looks like a new barrel was provided during the rebuild, but the rest looks like the inspector said “yeah, that’ll work” and put it back together.
This one has some stories, I’d bet...

My first 1911 build; posted in the gunsmithing section but thought it'd be appropriate here too

I'll bet that it does. Every time I hold one of my USGI 1911s, I have to wonder if it was a part of a fighter sweep by Marines in the southwest Pacific, invasion in Europe or possibly was carried by troops as they made their way north through Italy. There's no way to know but the 1911s that did those things are mostly now in civilian hands

I took my new CMP field grade out for a test fire this weekend and was astonished at how accurate it is. I really thought these war production 1911s were produced to loose tolerances for ease of manufacturing. assembly and reliability - and they probably were - but this one shoots cloverleafs at 10 yards. Look closely and you can see 4 shots here. And yes, it’s only 4 shots and it’s only 10 yards done offhand for a quick evaluation, but I did not expect these old warhorses to be capable of this kind of accuracy.
