It appears that an organization representing 1500 observant Orthodox rabbis has communicated to the ADL that they are displeased that the organization has wrongly attacked Carlson, neglected its purpose, and taken a hard left political turn under its current leadership.

They're filling a vacuum. In the past, the organizations that represented the Jewish community (Jewish Federation, ADL, etc) were narrowly focused on Israel or issues affecting the Jewish community and generally didn't undermine religious values.
To a large extent those secular organizations have been swept up in "progressive" politics and the orthodox community has been left unrepresented since the orthodox organizations have been focused on education or kashrut at food processing facilities

I can see that. There does not seem to be a very strong, politically, Orthodox Jewish Community stateside.
