67 factory checkered sporter (AKA fingergroove) only added a Volq hammer.
.75 or less at 50 yards w scope at 6x.
Only 535 or so made factory checkered.
Too nice to beat up hunting.

Can't stand the factory carbine stock. The old Sporter stock is THE stock for me.
And nobody making a repro these days (URS used to).
Shoulda made one in plastic as their 50th anniv (stainless) but Ruger has always done stupid stuff.

The ol lady loves her carbine, 50th yr anniv model (blued/grey lam). It does decent, haven't really tested it. Wears a Volq hammer too. RDS atop, plinking rig only.

With everyone swapping barrels, trigger groups, hammers, stocks etc., just what is it about the 10/22 that makes it "good"? The receiver? "This is a great rifle! Well, except for everything about it." :):
Kinda like a Jeep. $50K off the lot, rip everything off of it and spend another $50K on accessories to “make it right”…

The ease at which everything is replaceable/customizable.
    Only simple tools needed.

A lot like a Glock. It's just pretty simple and most people can do it.

So like I said... the receiver. :): Why doesn't Ruger offer these options as OEM?
Some of them they do, but you have to take it the way they make it.
You can buy the base model and put the ones you want on.

Plus it gives you a satisfaction of doing it.

They have Target barrels, but you don't get to choose which chamber.
They have Target stocks, but not nearly the variety available aftermarket.
    They have a BX trigger.

In reality you don't even need the receiver, you can get those aftermarket as well.

I guess I'm just lazy. I like to get one that does what I want it to right out of the box.

They are infinitely customizable. Some call them the Mustang of the gun world because everybody and their brother makes accessories and upgrades for them. Heck, 3rd parties even license the design and make their own version (like Kidd and Volquartsen)
A Carbon fiber barrel and stock would bring the weight down considerably. I wonder how much that would run?

I picked up one of the Talo M1 Carbine 10/22s. There's a pic in the show and tell thread.

It's purdy cool. Always gotta have at least one around.
