<update 5/23: I have them in my possession and am sending out PMs. I have 19 cases unspoken for. The price on these are now $65/case, anyone who ordered before 5/23 can still get additional ones at $62/case with their original order, the new price reflects if we have to meet again at a later...
I'm looking for some advice on different types of emergency rations. The situation I'm planning for is something along the lines of a natural disaster that involves the loss of one or more major utilities (water and/or power) and the inability to obtain food from my local grocery store for three...
Can you freeze Mre's without hurting them?
I see the lower the temperature they are stored at, the longer they will last, but can they be frozen?
I was thinking of sealing them in a large, airtight ammo can, and storing them in the garage.
Good or bad idea?
I am working on completely redoing my BOB/Just in Case Bag/Gear. I came across this site for a buyer's guide regarding MREs. Helpful stuff, especially for someone who has never bought an MRE before.
MREInfo
armygear.net has mre's on sale. Two 12-count cases for $90.00
Shipping was $37-something for 4 cases.
They are also a good source of ammo cans, among other things
ETA : type mre into search to find.
OK, my last experience with MRE-type meals was in the late 70's, USAF In-flight meals I think they were called. Basically C-rats.
Was on a detail the other night, and after my bag of beef jerky ran out, I got to thinking about MRE's (or similar), and wondered if there are any that can be eaten...
Do MRE's really have 1200 calories per meal?
Also, is there any way to find preserved meats, canned or otherwise, that don't have sodium through the roof?
are there any good sources in town to buy mres or prepared non-refrigerated foods like that by the case? i know i could order some but i would rather stock up a case at a time locally to minimize attention
i would hope with ameriqual being here there would be some place to get them but they...
I am kicking myself for not getting a case or two of the MRE's at the 1500, a guy had em for $5 each in case lots.... anybody know where I can get a deal like that now? PM me if you know where I can get or if you have any for sale.
Also, what is the difference between the Army issue/property...
I have found the new MRE's are really good and have many different combinations of good tasting food.
I hate the old MRE's when ever I got one of those, i'd just eat the desert, and skip the meal.
Does anyone have any experience with MRE's past their shelf life? I've read three to seven years is best case for shelf life. I have some that are about 20 years old. Anyone have experience that says these might still be good? Any way to tell if they are bad?
So where do you all buy you're mre's at? I'd like to get some to start my bug out kit. Also what are the suggestions for other options instead of mre's. I know wally world had something called an EZ meal for disaster areas.
I saw your post at FFF and actually answered it there, but for those not familiar with granola bars, some careful consideration should be taken. Some are the nutritional equivalent of a candy bar.
