If I buy a brand new gun, I'm not expecting to or paying to refinish it or oil it weekly. The point of this thread was to gather the most recent information from anyone who has bought a new express about the condition, quality and durability of the finish
so maybe the issue has been blown out of proportion a bit? a former ex family member did own an express and when i pulled his out of the closet one day it was completely covered in rust..completely in a thick coat.
that said i could definitely guarantee some neglect in the maintenance...
has Remington confronted and fixed the rust issue with the express 870's? everything i am pulling up on google is dated 2010 or older and the search function is not working for me. :dunno:

only fired roughly 300-400 rounds. never had a malfunction of any kind. It is a dead accurate gun with a butter smooth trigger to die for. 2011 model...
same thing happened to me, called them up and within an hour had a fed-ex label to return the pistol. they said the turn around time was going to be roughly 4-6 weeks but i received a brand new p07 within 2. CZ has awesome customer service...oh and guns too :D
