I have a 512-X that is sentimental also, my first .22. I don't shoot it a lot but have had a few light strikes (casing hit but did not fire the round). Not fully understanding your situation I can't comment on misfires. I did find this link for a replacement stock...
Six years ago I would have been at 29 years married, but now at 35 years of marriage, my wife doesn't say anything about new guns/toys. I am blessed she grew up around guns and hunting and encourages participation so she can have quiet time at home. She calls it a "win-win"

I've found this handy and helpful.
I can only speak for my hunting areas: It appears that the deer population is down somewhat but we still see deer that are shootable. The urban areas (like my neighborhood) are where populations seem to be stable/growing. I have purchased a deer hunting bundle for the past 3 years and only...
I've been luck to have access to the same 380 acre farm for going on 40 years. I actually purchase 35 acres of wooded property because I was afraid that I'd eventually lose the right to hunt at the farm and my son would not have anywhere to hunt. I'm in the later stages of my hunting career...
I just opened my gun safe to check a couple of documents I keep in the safe. The odor of gun lube, previously burnt powder with the leather gun belt is magnificent.
That is all.
Started both my boys on Henry Youth Model .22s. My rational was, it is the same as bolt action, just different motion. No better time than taking a box of shells to the woods and having a shooting competition with your youngsters. Their first hunting rifle was a Harrington Richardson .44 Mag...
Good luck on the auction. They are reliable in my experience and accurate as the shooter/ammo. I would liken them to a Marlin Model 60 in accuracy but I don't wanna start a debate unrelated to the Sears branded vintage-ish shooters.
30 years ago you could pick these rifles up at LGS for $75-90 each. I have 2 of this model, I purchased 1 and inherited one also.
They are good shooters. It is a bonus if the retractable sling still works. At one time I was on a quest to collect 1 of each of the JC Higgins/Ted Williams...
Remember when Anderson, Muncie, Lafayette, Wabash, Logansport, and Marion were much busier in the 70s & 80s industrially (just to name a few)? Those industries were slowly ran out of town (or shut down) due to Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act restrictions and or compliance was too expensive...
My in-laws built a house 20+ years ago with a full basement. Under the 14x14 sun room, we installed a gun room. After the house was completed, they hired a mason to lay up a wall and install a Diebold safe door that was acquired from Johnson Safe. The ceiling is double 3/4" thick drywall and...
.22 LR, .22 WMR, .45 LC, .30-30 Winchester's and 1 Henry. Started picking these up 30 years ago for $300-400. .357 and .44 are always on my list but scarce. They wear socks in the safe. :)
