About the engineering of the SR-71

My Grandfather was one of the lead engineers at Bendix (South Bend) that designed the fuel system for the Blackbird. I love listening to his stories about what it was like working on that project, and the problem solving that had to be done. Needless to say, I've always had a great admiration...

      Need advice

Just like wood glue, you want squeeze out. If you're worried about it, put release agent on the exterior finish around the joint. It will pop right off with a chisel after curing. Almost everything will be covered with the barrel band anyways. Good luck!

      John prine has died

I loved John's music. It was the soundtrack to many stages in my life and helped get me through some tough times. Rest in Peace John, and thank you. Austin City Limits "When I Get to Heaven" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKPDFQRmG_M

Lots of questions on the 1903 surplus rifles

Super interesting article with tons of info on the Remington 1903. https://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2016/6/8/the-remington-m1903-rifles/

      M1917 American Enfield ?

Interestingly, I came in to owning a fantastic Eddystone with original barrel dated March '18. It was wearing a Winchester stock in great condition. Upon taking it down I realized it had British ownership marks. I have later found that that this was a rifle sold under the counter to the...

      M1917 American Enfield ?

Winchester jumped the gun and started production before a standard was set. Remington along with their subsidiary Eddystone standardized on a set of drawings and began cranking out a ton of rifles with standardized parts. This left Winchester out in the cold because many of their parts were...

      Remington 1903-A3 Puzzle

UPDATE: Mr. Beard and the guys at the CMP forum had a lot of info. The rifle seems to be an oddball, as nobody to this point has seen an 03a3 with a similar stamp. Many m1903s had this mark carved in to the stocks by the Nationalist Chinese, though. Federal ordnance imported a bunch of these...

      Remington 1903-A3 Puzzle

Thanks for the responses fellas! I'll try to post a similar thread on the CMP forums. Mr. Beard from the CMP gave me some initial feedback through PM, but would love to see what they all think over there.

      Mossberg 346KA

Nope. Mine was one of 30,000 or so produced when the contract was cancelled. So, no property or arsenal markings.

      Mossberg 346KA

:yesway: I can't wait to get out and try out my Mossberg M44 US this spring. I haven't got to run any any rounds through her yet. I love these old 22s.

      Remington 1903-A3 Puzzle

I recently acquired this relatively pristine Remington 03-A3 dating to '43 in a scant stock. I'm thrilled to have got it, but am having trouble finding any real info on it. I've scoured the web with no results of an example with similar stamps. I know it is Chinese translated "Safe for use"...

      US service rifle Family Picture

I wish! I saw a couple at auction a few years back and drooled all over them, but alas, I learned that it will be unlikely I ever get a hold on one. I do have a M1917 Eddystone action with an arsenal installed barrel from Johnson Automatics Co., and that will probably be the closest I get to...

Thanks. Springfield M1A scout squad with USGI M14 stock and walnut top hand guard from Fulton Armory (personal preference, I think it dresses it up). I've been meaning to get one of the dummy buttons to fill the hole. The stock still has it's rack number. Sorry about the crappy image, but...

;)Nothing I have in the black rifle front would be considered "vintage" rifles. I would love to get there some day. Brownell's are putting some good builds together, but my "black rifles" are built for modern times. I have an M4 AR-15 that comes close, but they don't hold a candle to the old...
