      Firewood Season 2024

I haven’t heard that term before, but yes, I aim for the result. I try to make pieces the same size as a 4x4 post. My theory is that if you are buying firewood, you don’t want to run a saw or swing an axe.

      Firewood Season 2024

I’m high and I know it. I studied marketplace and a local guy always sells out of oak and hickory at $420/cord. I don’t have a dump trailer so stacking isn’t a big deal since I’ll have to handle it again anyway. I would discount a returning customer taking volume to almost $300/cord. Worst...

      Firewood Season 2024

I think I’m going to try to market my firewood starting in May. Any opinions on this? It’s ash, cherry, hickory, oak, and walnut. Dried 8-13 months. I’d price it higher, a cord would figure to $440, but offer discounts for returning customers and higher volumes. This cord will not fit in the...

Or there’s a piece of fence in there. Sorry, had to say it.

      Firewood Season 2024

It works pretty well. It would work better if I fastened the tire to the stump somehow. Sometimes the tire falls off the stump and defeats the whole purpose. Though without the tire, 100% of the splits fall off the chopping block

      Remington 512 restoration

I last worked on this rifle 10(?) years ago for misfires. I recall taking the bolt apart and cleaning it out. I test fired about 10 rounds and called it good. Short of rebluing, I can do the work but I’m finding myself shorter on time these days

      Remington 512 restoration

Can anyone recommend a shop or individual to refinish a Remington 512 to its original condition? This one suffers from misfires along with a cracked stock and splotchy finish. There is no rust on it though. It’s a sentimental piece, so I’d like it to be pristine again.

      Stihl 462 vs 500i vs 661C

I run a 462 with a 25” bar up here on the prairie. I’m felling, limbing, and bucking hardwoods including ash, cherry, hickory, oak, and walnut. It blasts through the cherry and walnut and moves through the hickory and oak well for a 70cc class saw. 24” is large diameter for me. I do not mill...

      Firewood Season 2024

I busted up straight grain oak, cherry, and hickory this afternoon. I’m not getting rid of my splitter, but it’s not too bad with a pile of rounds, halves, and quarters just out of frame to the right. For sale summer 2025.

      Firewood Season 2024

Sold 3 loads today. I’m relieved my 9’ long and 4.5’ tall stacks fit in a long bed with a tool box.

      Firewood Season 2024

I hope it was the 500i from the classifieds. I’ve been watching it, but I really don’t need one when I have a 462.

      Firewood Season 2024

Send it my way. I’d be happy to blend some kerosene in the diesel and flip the shutter in my 462.

      Firewood Season 2024

On the bright side, it’s been a good reason to spend some time at the reloading bench.

      Firewood Season 2024

I’ve cut some rounds, but it’s been too warm and too wet to get excited. I split a SxS load today with an axe. A freeze would be helpful so I could get my tractor and splitter back to the wood pile.
