      S&W 3rd Gen Semi Autos

I had the first .40 when they came out, but sold it and replaced with a 6906 which was my friend for many years. One thing both of them did was shoot extremely low, but consistent so a big of windage and I was on target. Ended up going the striker fired route. but would pick up a 6906, or a...

      EMP projects

I can recommend this as a good listen about EMP in a fictional account, but I felt pretty accurate.

      Question about arming family.

In answer to your question I do not think a 'one size fits all" answer would fit. For my gun wise/elderly, I would look at a Pistol Carbine like the rugers in 9mm with Glock mags. Shotguns for those who are comfortable with recoil and the dynamics/limits on ammo capacity. Youngsters 10-22, or...

      .38spl non +P self defense

I reload these myself, I enjoy the copper plating and find them fun to reload and the small amount of powder makes a pound last a long time :-)

      AR-15 hunters

I have the 6.5, 300 and 350, The .350 for Indiana woods is a heck of a good choice. Mine is exceptionally accurate as well and ammo much easier to find.

      Experiences with 6.5 Grendel AR-15s?

I have a grendel and shot it a bit. Not enough to be completely happy with it and would hunt deer in a heartbeat with the platform. Having said that , I have become very fond of the .350 legend and its easier to find around here and the deer I shot last year fell immediately. I have never...

      RK guns

Used them several times with no Difficulty at all in the store. Shipping may be slow but they get here and I fill out 4473 form and done.

      Obsolete handguns?

A gun like the glock 19 that is in use in many law enforcement circles and could/should have won the military contract is hardly obsolete. I have both the guns mentioned and as hard as it is for me to day, i shoot the Glock far better than the sig. Both fill a purpose and each has its fans...

Opinions needed - What would you do?

I have no problem spending my money and time at another place. You didn't create this problem. the bar owner did when he chose to make the policy. I would find another location, yes that means abandoning your friends in this situation. If they are friends they will understand your limits. I...

      Hikers

Getting too old to try speed hiking and for me its never the time, distance and enjoying the journey are keys for me. In doing the KT, Tucmseh, Adventure Trail, and up Mt. Leconte I typically average 2 miles an hour with a full pack. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Elevation change will slow...

      .357 self defense ammunition

Here is 2 and 4 inch comparisons https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/revolver-ballistics-test/. For deer I'd look at the hornaday leverloution line of bullets. I have had great results in my .44 mag.

      .38spl non +P self defense

the 148 grain Wadcutters are worth looking at. The old Nyclad lead round if it can be found/still made. I believe it was 125 grain. https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/revolver-ballistics-test/ is a write up of current rounds.

Whats the stupidest thing you've heard at gun store/range?

I was at a gun store and a guy pulled an airsoft gun on of his buddys who worked there and fired off several rounds...... This was at a gunstore where many off duty LEO and staff, customers are all armed and things turned out alright but wow.....

      .45 vs 9mm

The 9mm will allow faster follow up shots also the round technology has made the 9mm JHP a much more effective round with improved expansion, penetration and wound channel is overall improved. Especially with Win. rangers, federal HST and such. Reading about the ballistic improvements in...

      Any hikers?

Merrels and Columbias for me. I prefer a nylon liner sock and interestingly the sock least likely to blister my foot? Bass Pro brand "Redhead" heavy wool socks. They are beasts. I have done the KT, Obannon AT, Techumseh and numerous smaller trails with no worries.
    16. randyb

      Would you?

I'd avoid the .22 revolver as the trigger pull is often harder than a .38 due to the nature of the rimfire. A tip up barrel like the tomcat in .32 acp might be an option. As would a revolver in .327 (with its down graded available options) or .38 with wadcutters if a revolver is the option...

Can An Air Rifle Bring Down A Whitetail?

Indiana now has an airgun availablity season for deer hunting.

Is it ethical to hunt deer with a 223 or 5.56x45mm

Bullet construction, weight, length of barrel, etc. are part of the equation. Skill of the shooter is another. Where are the deer? Indiana or Georgia? The size of the average GA deer is tiny compared to IN deer. I have no problem with the .243 and up, but wouldn't fault the guy who knows...

Calling all Lefties - Favorite Rifle?

Marlin rifles, Ithaca shotguns, lefthand bold savages, and let handed STAG ARs in my experience. Handguns the HK VP9 is high on ly list of favorites as it works well for left handers. I also have a couple of left handed muzzleloaders
