I would be looking at a Dan Wesson or a used Les Baer. Both can be had for around $1500.
The classifieds over on 1911addicts.com is where I’d direct you to (don’t break the rules, make sure you read them first).
It’s surely the best place on the net for what you seek.
The fact that Greg Derr is on this list makes it a totally irrelevant one. Chuck Rogers and Ned Christiansen are not even in the guild.
I know a bunch of the guys who are, and it’s a nice “club” to be in. That said, I put 0 stock in it.
I don’t have much time as life and work have me completely bogged down (have been slammed for the last 8 months). That said, I wanted to share pics as this pistol is a really special one to me.
This is the first custom gun I ever ordered… literally this is the custom that got me into customs...
Probably a long shot, but figured I would post to see if anyone had one. I have an OG restricted Mod1 and it’s misssing the wedge lock rail. I would prefer a 13” if I were to pick! Let me know if you’re holding.

Here is the Kimber.
Looking for a handful of Colt 1911’s. Would prefer 9mm or 38 supers, but 45’s are fine as well. Condition isn’t much of a concern at this point.
Please let me know if you have anything you want to move!

Was able to head down to Kentucky last weekend to a 1911 meet up…. It’s a yearly meet I attend, some of the best guys who are high level shooters, collectors, and folks who are into the platform. It’s not all 1911’s, but the majority are
Here is a picture of my table… a lot here likely will...
DLC is “Diamond Like Carbon”… it’s also referred to as PVD or some know it as “Ion Bond”.
It’s applied through vapour deposition and takes the polish levels of the metal under it.
Depending on who you talk to, there are varying opinions about tolerance levels and finish choices that play a part in it. You will likely not see the newer “modern” day super finishes like dlc on a Chambers gun as his tolerance levels are that high. He’s done some, but know he prefers bluing...
