      National match AR 15

If your plan is to go back to Perry next year my advice is to attend the SAFS. I will not tell you the coaching is great cause it is not what it use to be. One coach per 10 shooters is just to much. You will pick up at least a couple pointers. The main reason is you will get to handle and fire a...

      National match AR 15

When the time came to switch from the Garand I purchased a Armalite NM from vendors row at Perry. The only reason for choosing the Armalite over the Rock River was they were open when I found the time between matches to do my shopping. A box stock NM rifle from either will take you as far as you...

      Sporterized Remington 1903A3

My opinion is the odds are better this rifle came from the era of trash cans full of surplus rifles at your local Hardware Store for $25.00 a pop. Probably purchased by a returning soldier and turned into a sporter to better provide for his family. There were also a few companies from that time...

      Which .22 handguns to choose?

On the lower end the Ruger Mark line and Browning Buckmark will be the most trouble free. On the higher end as stated above the S&W 41 and the Browning Medalist. Another one to look at that is in between is the Colt Woodsman line. I picked up a Match Target a few years back and absolutely love it.

Looking for a little insight on IMR 8208 XBR

What distance are you shooting 55gr SP? Who made your 16" 1X7 barrel? What are you shooting at and for what purpose? 8208 is one of my three go to powders depending on what is in stock at the end of the season. I am among a group that shoots 10,000+ rounds in competition annually. We do push...

Who's going to one of the nicest gun auctions ever?

Lot 112 was the IBM carbine I think you are thinking of lot 38 H and R 4689994 but sorry both were in the last 50 to go and I was in the back doing my transfers.

Who's going to one of the nicest gun auctions ever?

I left around 8:30 with what looked like approximately 50 guns left to move. Very glad I got to witness a collection of that size and condition but bidding was insane for this area. I have been attending central Indiana gun auctions for a long time and have never seen bidding that off track. I...

Build or buy a AR for rifle competition?

Good advice Do what has been offered above (got to say sloughfoot very cool of you to offer this up) then if you find you want to stick with it. 1. Sign up for the 2012 SAFS at Perry 2. Set a goal for say top 10% in the EIC match that follows the class 3. If you accomplish said goal. Go...
