I use the the one which came with the A2 stock. I tried the others several times and finally went back to the original. I also use a Limbsaver butt pad. No more bruises after shooting many rounds.
I have a .458 socom with a middy gas system. Reloader 7 is the only powder I have found that cycles it correctly. I have loaded some IMR 4198 rounds and hope to develope some new loads. Little Gun shoots accurately but won't cycle without jamming.
The only time I have had a similar problem with sticking was due to reloading brass from Glocks. The brass casing bulges out at the bottom which then lodges in the chamber. I now size the entire length of all pistol brass I reload.
Boyscout here, what is the schedule for reloading classes? I am all set up for 40 S&W and 458 socom, just want to get some hands on training before I go solo.
I bought Lil Gun powder at Gander Mountain for ~$29/pound. That's a lot cheaper than buying it on line and paying all the fees. They carry a pretty good supply of RCBS products. Gander should have H 110 and some of the other powders listed in load data I've seen on the internet. I will...
I bought my dies at Midwest USA. I bought Redding for $77. I heard about the Lee dies, they were out of Hornady for ~$70. So for a few dollars more I bought the best. I too cannot afford the price of .458 SOCOM without reloading.
I have heard of a 500 and 600 grain bullets. They are subsonic, but isn't that what you were thinking of? I wish my shotgun would shoot 150 yards, its a 1940's model 16 gage, smooth bore auto loader. 50-60 yards maybe. That's why I went to the .458. I would like to get a muzzle loader but ...
Thanks for the info. I was talking about shooting at the range. Hunting, well let's put it this way. My rifle is still cold from last week. I saw deer sign, tracks and 4 deer. None close enough to shoot. I had a 300 gr Hornaday HP waiting for one to get close enough, but ran out of...
Thanks, I already bought a pound at Gander Mountain. From what I heard, the barrel gets very hot after 1 shot. For accuracy the gun needs to cool off before shooting again. My friend who shoots Lil Gun said to start at 27 grns with the 405gr bullet.
I know of a company in Cincinnati, OH that I bought new brass from for my .458. I also bought 45-70 bullets too (.458 dia). My only other source of brass was to buy new ammo from Midwest USA. I am just starting to reload and could use some more input on the .458 SOCOM. I know you have to...
I just ordered my .458 SOCOM upper last week. Doesn't Indiana require you have a mag that will hold 5 maximum? How many does a 10 round mag hold? Also with the cost of the ammo, what reloading equipment do I need? Luckily, my AR from DPMS came with 2 metal mags. My Magpuls will be used for...
I bought my DPMS 5.56 at a gun show for ~$635. It included case, 2 mags, and cleaning kit. Bought from ZX Guns. They go to most of the larger gun shows in IN.
Thanks for the warning, my pit bull is a chewer! Most of my blinds on the windows have been chewed on. We give her "doggie downers" to mellow her out. It seeems to be working.
Why don't you get an elevated rail for the scope. This will give more clearance for the charging handle. I have a DPMS set up with the Lo Pro upper. My 5.56 has just enough clearance for my tactical scope.
