A LGS in South Florida. The guy that does my transfers primarily sells on consignment, and there are always older collectors looking to liquidate their collections. This is the Model 28-2 I mentioned (same seller) and I’ve had him pull it so I can start making payments.
I went through a period where I tried a lot of different cleaners/lubricants and I use TW25B on everything I own. It’s a little pricey but performance is top notch and it cuts down on cleaning time as well.
They pop up on gunbroker from time to time, usually at ridiculous prices. There’s currently a Lyson’s Corner P226 on there and the seller is wanting $2,999.
I’d definitely recommend picking one up at some point. It’s probably my favorite platform.
They’re kind of like misprinted coins. Not really “worth” any extra money, but they sell for quite a bit more. It’s actually kind of ironic because of my four P220s, the Tyson’s Corner has the worst trigger.
I prefer hammer fired pistols but own/have owned a lot of striker fired pistols as well. The trigger on the Canik Elite Combat is, hands down, the best factory trigger I’ve ever felt on a striker fired pistol. Takeup is very smooth with a noticeable wall, but the break is clean and light. It...
I certainly understand the benefit and wish I was in a position to train like that. Unfortunately nobody down here really has land, I promoted and no longer have access to the DHS/ICE range, and most public ranges prohibit drawing from a holster. I know of one privately owned range where I can...
No, it’s been a while since I shot with a timer and even then it was to qualify. They only record scores when you pass. You typically don’t know the times unless you need remedial training and failure to complete drills is the reason.
Florida is CC only so it’s almost exclusively IWB now. 4...
Didn’t I say from the beginning that I don’t shoot competition? It’s from concealment. It’s a B6, not a B8, and as I said, it was rapid fire 2 and 3 shot groupings with a 1911. So that’s what? Six shots out of approximately 50 that were all still within 4” of the bullseye despite not using the...
Maybe we’re misunderstanding each other, or maybe I don’t know what I’m taking about. What I do know is this is three or four rapid fire 2-3 shot groupings I shot with a 1911 at 10 yards two weeks ago using the technique I’ve been describing. A technique I learned from an individual who’s been...
Chris Baker from Lucky Gunner also says it originated with Col. Cooper and the range master at Gunsite, who did the video in the link I posted, describes it differently…
Straight from the course of fire. I’m sorry if you didn’t like my terminology, but this is shooting from the hip. You clear the holster, bend your elbow, and fire.
Gun up and tucked into the chest, canted sideways. Some call it close combat ready, some call it high compressed ready, he just used high ready.
We practiced from the holster when we had access to their range, and high ready when we were on a range that prohibited drawing from a holster. Reason...
I used 7-10 because that’s the range where I can do it consistently. I’ve seen it done as far as 15, but anything further generally requires the rear sights.
Maybe I wasn’t clear enough with my original post, but I’m not saying reflex sights are a bad product, inferior, etc. I was simply saying...
That’s exactly what I train for. This was the target we used for that drill. He’d call the shape and location and I’d punch out/fire. FSP shooting is accurate enough to consistently hit an area the size of one of these shapes at 7-10 yards. If it wasn’t, they probably wouldn’t teach people to...
