My wife has been binging The Blacklist. Every time someone pulls out an auto pistol there is the sound effect of a revolver being cocked. I laugh every time.
It was in July when the wheat was harvested this year was when I first noticed a lack of doves compared to past years. Now there is corn being cut for silage in my area and we are seeing a small fraction of the birds we’ve come to expect.
These are my observations from Miami, Wabash, Fulton...
Am I alone in noticing a definite lack of doves in my area? I’m not just talking about recently, all this year there has been a very noticeable decrease in the number of mourning doves seen in my area.
The season opens Sunday and unless I see an influx of birds on Saturday, I have a feeling...
Thursday evening the got together with couple of forum members and we had a very interesting discussion about Skeeter Skelton, revolvers, casting, hand loading and lever rifles. We also enjoyed a few sips of one of Mr. Skelton’s favorite bourbons, Henry McKenna.
The S&W revolvers pictured are...
I am not a fan of Ballou at all so it is painful for me to say that he is in the right here. USAC needs to get their poop together and quit giving drivers and teams reasons to race in other series.
Non wing sprint car racing is the most entertaining, exciting and competitive racing on dirt...
On the block is a very nice example of a Springfield M1898 Krag rifle. The rifle is in unmolested condition with a bright bore and a good stock with visible cartouches.
Now, you too could own the same type of rifle that Sgt. Shultz used to keep Col. Klink’s perfect record of no escapes from...
The way Ballou has been talking about USAC, I’m surprised he hasn’t received either a fine or suspension. Bad mouthing your sanctioning body usually doesn’t end well for drivers or owners. The fact that car counts are lower at many USAC shows this year is probably protecting him from this.
I never liked a soap puck. I use a pea sized dollop of Cremo and whip it to a lather with a badger brush in my mug. It works great for me with my 1931 open comb Gillette. I have had good results with Derby Extra blades.
He has to win a fourth one before we can win his fifth. I was in the NE Vista in 2002 and the light was still green when he was passed by PT. Team Green provided overwhelming evidence to that point only to have the IRL state that ruling was a judgment call and it was not reviewable.
Today will be my last hunt of the season. I just won’t have any time to get out again in the next week.
It’s been a decent season so far. I worked some birds but haven’t been given a shot yet.
On April seventh I added a new caliber to my reloading bench when I picked up a Savage 99 at the Tipton Gun Show.
Well, ten days later I drove to Ohio to get another 300 Savage. This time it was a Remington Model 81 Woodsmaster. It came with a period correct Weaver scope in an offset mount...
I was there last month. Unfortunately the museum was closed the days we were there but we visited the cemetery. We spent a couple hours there walking around and finding the gravesite. Lots of history there beyond the graves of Duane, Greg, Berry and Butch. You will also find the inspirations for...
