Great time comparing my 1980s SW 41 to my 2021 model.
Used SK Standard Plus ammo.
Scope on both, but I think they might do better with a red dot due to reticle moving when I move my eyes b/c scopes don't come with a parallax.
Issues with ammo:
- 00/150 rounds with 1980s model
- 11/130 rounds...

I remember being told that before!
I had a 1/2 page of the 7/8” squares I used to dial in the rear sights tor both revolvers for the ammo I was using yesterday,
but more rounds were missing the small square thsn hitting.
I was so irritated that I didn’t bother posting my shame. :lmfao:
I realized I hadn't shot my two .22LR revolvers in months:
- Dan Wesson, 6 round, 8" barrel, 54 oz (bought March 2019)
- Colt King Cobra, 6" barrel (bought new March 2024)
Used CCI SV, 1070 FPS, 40 grain, SLN
The Colt King Cobra didn't shoot well for me today so I showed a couple of targets...
Definitely!
Switching gears from 9mm and in the context of .22LR I am prejudiced toward metal frames over polymer & definitely size matters: the bigger the better.
The only polymer .22LR pistol that I have left is the Kel-Tec CP33 & I live with it b/c they are so accurate for me...
Shot 2 revolvers today:
- Taurus .357 magnum, model 66, SS, 4", 7 rds (house revolver)
- Ruger LCR 38 special, snub nose (pocket CC)
Used reloads at 21'.
Taurus 66
Target reveals I shoot free hand rarely anymore.
Between that and using reloads, the free hand not well grouped.
Used .357...
Shot nearly all my 9mm handguns today.
Used reloads at 21'.
My 2 favorite 9mm pistols:
CZ Shadow 2 (upgraded) & Sig P210A @3.75" circles; 5 rds each circle.
Shadow 2 barely edges out Sig P210A, imo.
CZ Shadow 2 & Sig P210A @1.75" circles.
CZ Shadow 2: 95% & 100%. (5/5 rds in 7 of 8 circles...
"Sandbagging," :lmfao:
You always accuse me of underperforming when shooting your guns. :dunno:
I have always been amazed how you shoot better free hand than I do on a rest. :ugh:
I had a couple of the regular Taurus TX and a Competition model & they performed the same.
As I remember, I...
Got to shoot 2 of Zackcz's Taurus pistols today:
- Taurus Competition w/UUQ EagleC28 red dot
- Taurus Toro Gen 2 (improved base model)
It's always fun to shoot a friend's guns.
Used Federal AutoMatch 40 grain, 1200 FPS, SLN.
Taurus Toro Gen 2
Had only iron sights, but still disappointed at...
Great day of simplicity with shooting 3 pistols using iron sights.
- Browning Buckmark Contour URX (took scope off since I have the BB NS Standard with an optic)
- SW 2206 (early or mid '90s)
- SW 22A-1 (2009-2014, I think)
Used Federal AutoMatch, 1200 FPS, 40 grain, SLN
Browning Buckmark...
Put rounds through a Ruger Mark 4 I picked up last Fall.
1st row I did poorly, having to get used to the Mark 4 trigger after shooting
2 Buckmarks for 220 rds.
Also, I had to do a little bit of elevation & windage adjustments using the Aguila ammo.
I put my hands on a rest.
Groups...
Another day of comparing:
- Browning Buckmark NS Standard URX (upgraded) w/Sig red dot
- Browning Buckmark Contour URX w/Truglow red dot
Trying to decide which Buckmark to keep: the Standard or the Contour.
Thinking of keeping both so I can have the Standard with the good red dot and the...
Fun day with 2 examples of my favorite brand of pistols:
- Browning Buckmark NS Standard URX (upgraded), Sig red dot
- Browning Buckmark Contour URX, Truglow red dot
Ammo:
- Aguila SE, 40 grain, 1255 FPS, SCN (rows 1 & 2)
- CCI Blazer, 38 grain, 1235 FPS, SLN (rows 3 & 4)
Scores (nearly...
I had Covid a month ago (4-5 days) and so have a few of my close friends before and since (I wasn't around them).
They live in other states.
I didn't even know Covid was going around again.
Just like last time, started out with a bit of a sore throat and a little temp (only 100*-ish, then...

Got a chance to shoot Zackcz's all metal primo pistol: Canik SFX Rival-S.
Beautiful gun.
Loved the magazine release button, it was noticeably raised like all magazine releases should be!
If I owned it, I'd have to put walnut grips on that SS frame! :rockwoot:
Felt really good...
Browning Buckmarks have proven to be at the top of my list for years now.
You have to spend at least twice as much to get the same results, in my experience.
