Last couple of days I have been in Indy "helping" (me sitting on a sofa shaking my head yes and writing checks) plan my parents' 60th Anniversary party.

Was released early Saturday and ran over to Broad Ripple for shopping including guns at Indy Arms. Wanted ammo but "store policy" demanded registration info for the ammo.

I laughed and asked if it was because of ATFE watching them so closely. Counterman said gang bangers were everywhere so they have an ammo registration policy.

I assume it is a side agreement they have with ATFE? Anyone know more?

I don’t know any more about the story.

Is it possible they are tying to shield themselves from civil liability?

IDK, can a victim‘s group sue retailers for selling ammo to a guy who uses it to kill people? Is that a thing?

What did this registration entail? Did they want to write down the serial numbers off of every round onto a form with a photo of your official government issued identification card?
Wanted my DL so they could create a database of what I purchased. I did buy a few mags instead.

I laughed at "it's our policy" b.s. and bought what I needed at Four Guns in Lafayette when I got back.

Why sell any ammo then? What good does an after the fact registration do for a prosecution (civil or criminal)?

At first he claimed it was for "my credit card". Never used a credit card in a gun store in all my years, and I have been in a few gun stores.

When I laughed at that and said I only use cash, I got the ammo registration story.

I know they are ashamed to caving in to ATFE or counterman would not have used the credit card smoke screen lie.

It's their business, I get it, I just don't understand why they are doing it or why give me the b.s. "credit card" cover story.

Four Guns deserves your business. Eff the other place. If they've earned scrutiny from the ATF, do you really want to associate your name with them?

Kieslers in Jeffersonville did that crap years ago. I walked out and left over $300.00 worth of ammo and mags on the counter.
Registration is never good for anything.

When I was a young man they enacted a ammo data base law in Rockville, MD
It was short lived, citizens shut down access to its downtown and all of the city building.

Did they get bought out by Range USA? Those ***hats wanted to scan my DL for the purchase of a bottle of Rem-oil, so I told them to get bent and went around the corner to Walmart and bought it, no ID needed...

Meh, I was in da hood so I went, plus . . . the joys the Broad Ripple.
They must have not liked how you look...

I bought some 22LR Stingers and they didn't look at anything.

I like the place because they take in some weird stuff at times. They had a Star Firestar the last time I was in there.

I had a Star Firestar way back when and that thing was a chunk.
