Pretty simple, we have just had more prosperity than than humans can mentally handle. Just to far removed from the experiences of the depression…

I actually do think this is straight up the answer, especially for this generation of women who have been absolutely showered with preferential treatment and exclusive scholarships/funding and wave after relentless wave of social fads that increase their power and denigrate men. Modern women's lives are so safe, so prosperous, so comfortable, and so wonderful that their brains straight up broke.

There used to be a slogan, "sex sells". If you ran an ad selling whatever with a pretty woman in it, the women would want to buy say beauty products or fashion because then they could look like her. The guys would buy the beer or car because they thought they would have a better chance of scoring with a lady like her. Subconsciously at least. In the case of men you knew you at least had their attention, even if they couldn't tell you what was being sold 10 minutes later...

I am with the OP, I miss the days when the women where attractive in ads. I am also glad I'm not a young guy trying to find a girlfriend these days. It seems like they all have a ring in their nose, I find it disgusting.
Nose rings, ear gauges, tats everywhere, those dumb looking drawn on (tattoos?) eyebrows that make girls look plastic or like a cheap doll. I guess I just don't get it.
Perhaps it's just me being an old fuddy-duddy, but it seems like the only time you see a white guy in an ad he is either part of a gay couple, or he is playing the idiot in a funny ad. I realize the world has changed, but it just seems over-the-top to me, and I wonder what impact it will have on young men.
It's like all of a sudden WASPS are not ~63% of the population anymore.
