if I'm gonna spend upwards of that kind of money it's not gonna be on a Tisas. I'm not gonna begrudge anyone that wants to try out a Turkish made firearm but know what you are getting. I certainly would not carry one and I'm not gonna spend that kind of money on just a range toy.

Description from website, look like they put lipstick on a $500 bottom of the barrel 1911 to make it look like a Cobra Carry or VBOB and added $600 to the price tag for that sweet milling job.
Also the only acceptable country to buy any kind of 1911/2011 is America, because it's America's pistol and to do otherwise is heathen communist sacrilege. There I said it.
And you know I agree. Until Springer brought most or all of their manf back from the jungle regions I refused to purchase anything made off continent.
Then they :poop: in my Wheaties and I was finished with them save for specific used models. DW and standard started getting my money for off the shelf and I just kept something going with AllenM as much as possible.
    But Tisas, come on people.

I mean give me a bit and I can come up with a rant about people wanting top shelf 1911's for Glock money, cast frames and slides, turkey literally ripping off every gun manufacturer ever , two world wars, the importance of actual fit and finish in a 1911.

How people often use a 1911 as a crutch to cover up for their poor pistol shooting fundamentals, people who refuse to believe modern ballistic data regarding modern hollow point ammunition , how 45 kills the soul and the body. The 45 is actually a younger cartridge then the 45acp.

The list goes on and on, but 1911's should be made in America is 100% true sorry if it does not fit anyone's budgets or priorities. I generally try to buy American as often as I can especially with higher dollar stuff like guns. I make two exceptions for Germany and The Czech Republic as I am a fan of H&K, Walther and CZ pistols
    :patriot:

And CZ is building here now as well.

Don't forget that in the Philippines they love the 1911. They make them in their garages from scratch. They have for many years now.
The Philippines used to be American.

That is not on my personal list of approved countries for guns. Apparently they just elected their ex dictators son as president too.

Speaking of which I am very excited to see what CZ / Dan Wesson do with Colt. I would love a Combat Elite from Colt that's as nice as a Dan Wesson. For some reason I want a Colt Roll mark in my safe.

Speaking of used DW, thoughts on a Guardian?
in 45 acp of course. Frame seems to be in the extremely light side?

You would have around $300 + for upgrades if you choose too.
Yeah I would like my own personal Government Size 1911. Understanding it’s about want not need though.

None the less I kind of have it built in my head

    1. Blued
2 25 LPI front strap checkering
3 Trijicon HD sights (proven to be best for me)
4 OD G10 Grips from LOK Grips

Seems like the Garrison would be a good starting point? But I am also looking at the Standard Manufacturing 1911 seems like I could get it out of the box with the checkering. Huge savings versus retro fit I think?

The only hitch would be the sights as that would be a deal breaker.

Yet they seem to reverence the 1911 just as much maybe more than many Americans do.

I mean I know you are partial to RIA given your postings and I am glad you enjoy them. But I would still never buy one and fail to see any "reverence" there aside from again bargain bin 1911's that may or may not work (see Haynes Custom). Plus say you did decide you wanted to upgrade the RIA significantly later, is that really the base model gun you want to build on?? Kinda like souping up a GEO Metro IMHO.

Don't forget Magazine Well and having the internals swapped for tool steel since you are going to the length of having checkering added. When I had my Springfield dome up the hand cut 25 LPI checkering and trigger guard undercut was definitely the most expensive part of the bill.

They are made by a country that specializes in ripping off other countries manufacturers guns , and then making them significantly worse and cheaper. People seem to like the cheap part apparently

Study up on Phillipine avg Joe's making 1911's. I'm not taking about the factories over there I'm talking about the many garage and jungle smith's that make them.

I don't know if this video is correct in saying they are illegal or not in Philippines. They sure make a lot of them.

I'd like to know what got them started manufacturing the 1911 at home or in factories like they do.

In the interest of full disclosure, I do own a Tisas 1911 GI government model. I didn't purchase it because I'm cheap. I didn't buy it with the intent to upgrade it or carry it. It is what it is and I mainly just purchased it to have some occasional fun with. I have had zero issues. Not looking to seek any vindication in saying that or convince anyone else to purchase one.

Now having said that I will not cheap out when it's time to get serious. For that I own a DW Valor that I had the frame ceracoted and a DW vigil CCO.

I think there is a market for the Tisas just not at the $1100 price point, perhaps some day but not now.

This must be fake news. From what I am told the 1911 is on its way out!

Oh I agree. It's obvious that they are trying to market the Bantam VBOB model as a carry piece, and I would never buy one as such. Especially at this price range or any price range for that matter.

When it comes to getting serious and paying top dollar i would'nt even consider a Tisas. I'll go with my DWs

I just wanted to make the comparison between that and what I purchased to be what I view as an occasional firearm to have some fun with without investing a lot of money in it and to let others know that I do not have any expectations for it other than what it is and they shouldn't either.

Once again if they are looking for a serious carry piece, I would highly advise anyone to take a pass on a Tisas.
