Twice today the topic of citizenship crossed my path. The first time was in a YouTube. There was a conservative reporter asking everyday Americans questions that are on the citizenship test. Most of them failed miserably. Granted, they probably only show the dumbest answers. The second time was an episode of The Blacklist. One of the characters was taking his citizenship test in a few hours. This made me think, do I know the answer to most of those questions? I downloaded the questions and got about 75% right. How would you do?

Tried it. 110 out of 133 points. I have a feeling some of the ones that where "incorrect" are do to wording or some of the woke questions.

I find it all a bit odd honestly. If you are actually taking the test and fail, when you retake the test you take the 2008 version(who was president then...hmmm?). Bit odd.

I'm not sure how accurate that first test you linked is. There are spelling errors, a lot of the questions have very funny wording, like they were written by a non-native English speaker, and some of the questions answer previous ones (for instance, one question asks how many states there were initially, and the very next question is "there were 13 original states, name 5 of them.")

125 of 133. Wish it showed which ones we missed.
    Exact number I got.

I wouldn't put much trust in it. Aside from the issues I mentioned above with the site, the fact that we're all getting numbers in the low 120 range make me wonder if it's even grading the test, or just giving you a random number in that range to make you feel good? Lol, I'm just really skeptical of anything online, I guess...

Being a proud American of foreign origin (naturalized US citizen), I took the real deal almost 20 years ago.

In the years leading up to the test, I took US History AP in high school, and read many books on US history just for fun. I could rattle off all the Presidents, VPs, years in the office, and major campaign issues. (Can’t do it anymore, brain got old).

When I had the interview/test, the INS worker was a guy barely out of college, US History major, we had a nice animated chat about the Federalist Papers, etc. at the end, he sheepishly said “ok, i have to ask you to answer these three random questions from the list — with your knowledge it’s almost embarrassing, but we have to check off the mark”. Yeah, what are the three colors on the US flag? Etc.

Yes, and for the record, at least one is actually wrong. “E Pluribus Unum” does NOT mean "We all become one" no matter how bad of a translator you use.
    Yeah, that one got me.

    Also.

Who does a U.S. Senator represent?

My answer, All the people of the state.

The correct answer on the test,

Only the people in the state who voted for the senator

Apparently the Senator doesn't represent you if you didn't vote for him.

It'd be a boring video if people passed and you can't make money on YouTube being boring.

It does. Click on where it says show questions below your score.
Dammit. Wish I would have seen this before.

The only way to score 100% is to answer questions with a response one knows is not correct but is consistent with what administrators want folks to believe.

    Here is an example:

    IMG_2993.jpg

The emancipation proclamation freed not a single slave, but some believe it is important to keep the falsehood that it did alive.

    Here is another:

    IMG_2994.jpg

The War Between the States was not a civil war. Never were the seceeding States attempting to overtake the central governent. But again, some believe it is more important to keep the falsehood alive.

While I don't agree with it, I think I somewhat understand your position on the "Civil War" being a misnomer.

But I didn't quite get the whole Emancipation Proclamation thing. I don't think you dispute that before the war there were millions of slaves in the south who were no longer slaves after the war. If you say that the Emancipation Proclamation was not what freed them, then what was the specific law/event/order that freed them?
