Looking to get some recommendations from fellow Ingo members.

I have worked with these guys a number of times and am happy to suggest them for consideration.

    Good luck.

X2 on Becks if you want to pay someone.

Google a sooteater chimney sweep and you may choose to diy like I do.

    Just some friendly input....
Part of having a pro do it is to visually inspect the entire firplace and chimney for potential issues so they are addressed before they become a safety issue.

I do enjoy a wood burning fireplace!!!

Thanks gents for the input. I used to sweep it myself, but the other half doesn't want me +26 feet up on the roof anymore. Man the price for this service has really gone up YOY.

Judd and Son in Schererville. Used them two years now. Very happy with their work and attitude. Used Alberts once but he messed up our wood burner and had a nasty attitude to match.

I'll agree, at least in part. Yes it is good to have a pro inspect everything, it may or may not be something that needs to be done every year. I have a new stove and pipes. Professionally installed (supposedly anyway) that did pass inspection. I would feel comfortable cleaning it this year and maybe getting it inspected next. Then going from there. Through the wall and the entire outside is stainless, only have maybe 4 feet of black stovepipe inside. Depending on what the pro says, maybe clean it myself the next year or two then have them come back.

In the old days (back in the early 80's), the proper way to sweep was to go on the roof, remove the cap, then insert the first rod with the correct size brush and add a rod as you brush down. These days, they all use a brush from the fire place and brush up.
I struggle with that method as they don't go on the roof anymore to inspect the cap and crown areas.

Chimney Masonry Outfitters--they just rebuilt the outside of my chimney and redid the fireplace inside. Based on the very high quality of that work, I'd suggest them for the sweeping and inspection part of it too.
