These numbers only include new hires, and I think any hiring business will tell you that there are more openings than applicants.

It would be nice to include that statistic (jobs that need people) in these reports, similar to the number of unemployment claims (people that want jobs)...

The local Subway, Hardee's and Dollar General were closed because they can't get people to work

I can't imagine why some industries; facing record deficits, possible dollar devaluation, inflationary pressures, higher energy prices, higher taxes and a return of intrusive gov't regulation, might tap the brakes on hiring. Can you?

Well my stock index funds are hitting records.

The unemployed are unemployed because they make more money being unemployed so no surprises the number was low.
