I'm sure that those who dwell in Indy aren't familiar with the goings on down here. Murder and felonious assaults are nearly a daily occurrence in Louisville. The administrations (past and present) have been liberal forever. The LMPD is currently under investigation by the feds (since the current administration took office in DC). There is very low morale among the police and I'm sure that with the latest chief of police there is an order to stand down and not confront protesters. Anyone who pulls a single-action .22 rimfire revolver to confront a mob has had too many mint juleps.
From a ballistics point of view I 100% agree with you. From a psychological point of view....who really knows. Most people don't want to get shot. The mere display of a firearm could dissuade someone from doing something.

Brings up a question though, if one of us who "know" better were confronted by a mob and a .22 rimfire caliber was all one had, would you at any point bring it into play?

For me that's a tough question to answer. At some point? yeah that is pretty easy....at which point? that gets a little harder. For this guy, he deployed it early, but it could have kept him alive, that is all in the hypothetical realm. Perhaps it kept any further forward motion from happening by the mob.

Not trying to totally derail this thread, but it is something to thing about, at least for me, when I consider judging the actions of the guy.

Too many miny juleps or the realization that it's the best option he has available.

I think this shows how little resistance it takes to confront these thugs. Bald/beard guy was wanting a piece of someone and there were no takers. Tiny gun guy held his own but once again none of the thugs wanted to play. This response is quit different that we've seen in NYC, LA and others liberal ran sh*thole cities. Everyone want to be a thug until it's time to do thug things.

Thugs in reality cowards who enjoy acting out against targets who can't fight back. Any resistance whatsoever can tilt the balance.

Imagine if we hunted those thugs down, massively overcharged them, and denied them bail the way we do with the capitol protesters.

What was Chest Hair Harold gonna do with that little thing, take potshots at mice in the kitchen?
Yeah, it actually does happen. It’s just not publicized as much.

It looked to me that bald/beard guy did have at least one taker. But someone got between them and got them to back off.

For those times when a 10 oz. 380 is just too damned big and heavy to carry.

He should be. For all of the whining about people commenting on his choice of carry, the only reason it worked was because he didn't have to use it. I'll hedge my bets against the fates and carry something a little more effective, rather than treating it like a magic talisman. One of these days, he might meet someone who don't give a ****.

I’ve carried a NAA 22 Magnum in a pocket holster for years. It is strictly a backup to a larger gun or when I can’t/don’t want to have a gun on my hip. It is in my pocket 99% of the time and only removed when I am forbidden by Federal Law to have it. People underestimate the power of a 22 Magnum and its lethality. I’ve never had to draw it, or any other gun, in self defense and pray I never have to, but it is comforting knowing it’s there. It’s much better at holding off felonious thugs than a salad fork.

This is why after stuff started going downhill early on in 2020 I decided I'm going to carry the firearm I shoot the best, that is outfitted the best for any situation, and make sure I have spare mags always on me.

    Printing be ****ed.
