I went with VZ Grip's Tactical Diamond - S&W K/L-Frame Round Bottom. The diamond pattern machined into the panels is very sharp. Even with gloves the grip stays planted is the hand. I am very pleased with the appearance, too. I love G10 due its ability to not be effected by moisture.
Slowly grind the spine down a small amount then remove a small amount of stock from the rise (belly). Eventually you will create a new tip by repeating the two processes.

If you have gable ends it is an easy install for an attic fan on a thermostat. We set ours at 80°F and it made quite a difference in cooling the house. If you don't have the tools it is a quick job for a carpenter
