      I have been eyeballing the PPS for some time now and like you said... At $600 I couldn't come to spend the money on but now that they've dropped down to $400 it is a much greater option. I have shot a few Walthers (own a PPQ) and I love them. Super nice guns.

      Advice - tactical shotguns for home defense

      Mossberg 500 with the pistol grip. Hopefully if there was an encounter in the night, the sound of that pump might be enough to scare off an intruder. Or go for the 870 combo package that comes with the 18" barrel.
