If your dealing with saplings that are bigger than 1/2", you need a tractor. An ATV pull behind just isn't going to be heavy enough for that kind of abuse. Even an old gas machine with a bush hog would be a lot better.
Not sure where to find a cheap one, but I think I've seen blad3s that convert a finish mower to a Rotary cutter. So long as you aren't mowing over small trees, that might do the job. How big is the field?
Anyone who thinks they can be successful by working smart and not hard is fooling themselves. At best, you have to work smarter AND harder.
Today, working smarter also means making the educational decisions that will have the best long term value. My degree today would cost close to $300k...
That wasn't really my point. I'm not disagreing with your assessment. I'm just saying that many, if not most middle class "conservative" families think that a 4 year degree (in practically an field of study) is what their children need in order to have a chance at being successful. They...
LOL. Our department is an in-house integrator for the plant/Corp. We've been lucky to get a couple of good ones, as well as finding some really good machinists who don't have any grey hair yet. I'm not sure what interview questions the rest of the departments are asking, but you're right...
How many engineers are you finding that are actually worth paying? Most of the ones we find only know how to use power point, and are looking for a path to management. We're lucky if 1 in 10 turns out to be any good, and of course those are the ones who are the most marketable and hardest to...
That's okay. It's his future, not hers. I have a BSME, and there's no way I'd go down the same path today. My first full year out (98) I made 49k and my education cost around 85k. Today the same degree costs over 200k and we hire those grads for around 60k. Today I would have either stayed...
1. Learn the difference between investing, spending, and wasting because you're on your own now and you're about to waste more time and money than your likely to see or have for another 15 to 20 years.
2. Jobs
A. They suck.
B. They suck less than being broke.
C. They suck a LOT...
The knife and Sharpener form a right triangle that looks like half of a roof. The sharpening stone forms the rafter. The knife edge is the gutter, and the pivot point is up on the ridge of the gable. As the stone pivots and runs down the knife edge, it's like following the gutter down the...
That's a really nice system for someone who insists on sharpening by hand. I can certainly see where the customers $300 is going. I personally don't get it though. If I'm going to spend $300 on a nice big, heavy sharpening tool, especially one that is designed to be a permanent fixture on...
Wow, I can't imagine spending that kind of cash on ammo for hogs. I'm glad it works for him though. I'd separate it by head case and sell what you don't want. Offer him a cut if he wants it.
Followed the directions to a tee. All 3 of the engines I used it I. Developed oiling issues in the top end and siezed up. 25hp Kohler on a commercial dixie chopper, 400cc Atv, and 7 hp garden tiller. After the 3rd engine (Dixie Chopper), I asked a former mechanic about it. He had a small...
