      WTB: Auto ordinance gi spec.

I'm looking for a auto ordinance gi spec. Just wanting the base model, none of the higher grade ones. Love the original look. Willing to travel 40 minutes or so if needed. Located near kokomo.

      1918 colt 1911 grip safety

Your all good. I thought about welding it up but ended up just tweaking the trigger and grip safety surface again and the problem was fixed. It's unfortunately just a shooter as the finish has been redone because someone had nickeled itand i reblued it. I really don't know how much it would be...

      1918 colt 1911 grip safety

It appears to be worn on the grip safety.trigger doesn't appear to be bent. And I checked if it was dropping down behind and it was.

No matter the position of the safety the hammer will drop, which is why I think its not getting enough contact... I can't see how to give it more?

      1918 colt 1911 grip safety

Hello all, I'm having trouble getting the grip safely to work on a 1911. I've adjusted springs, and tried to adjust everything I can but still nothing. Is it possible the working surfaces are just worn down to much that it can't engage? Spring tension can't be the primary problem I believe.

That's really neat. Never have read about that little war. Will have to do some digging on it.

That's really cool you know all the history on yours. It appears to have alot of great history with it.

I ordered a complete spring kit for it. 18.5lb recoil spring. Figured the recoil spring being stiffer would be best. Going to try to tune it so there is as little stress possible while firing.

That's a good looker. Someday when the funds are there and one comes up I will probably get one so I can shoot without care. Lol you got a pretty good deal there.

I believe that's what I'm going to do. Put a nice blue finish on it, keep it well maintained and enjoy. Need a steady supply of lead rounds for it now.

Good to know, I spent 900, so I don't feel so bad now.
