No, The Vintage Match is a sanctioned match. If you go to the match scoring section of the CMP page you can find my lousy score, because I tried to adapt the sling technique taught to my Mausers sling and it didn't work...should have just shot bone support only.
BTW My little buddies are from King & Country and the set was about $120
I am/was a part of this unit for a while. http://ninthreenactors.tripod.com/ninth1.html I had a bad knee injury that keeps me from running around much anymore. So anyway, if you find a reenactment somewhere just ask the questions of a couple of guys. They ALWAYS are looking for new people. The most expensive part is the garand. I had lots of fun doing these. We did a D-Day landing off the Ohio river once. That was cool.
