      Hi powered range?

Crosley is just south of Vernon on SR 3. 65 S to Seymour exit 50A. East to SR 7/3. South on SR7/3 through Vernon. Bear right on SR3 to the Crosley FWA office on the left about 1 mile. They can get you the rest of the way. Call first to get directions if you're going down on the weekend. The...

AAR: ACT - Intro to Emergency Medicine

ACT always puts on a great class and does so with class. It was a very informative class and gave a good foundation to moving into a more advanced class later on, which is going to be on the agenda for me. Anytime one has the opportunity to take training with ACT, it's time and money well spent.

Homes built on your lot builders?

If you get a chance to work with a guy by the name of Ken Napier, take a bullet to the head. It would be a lot less painful for all involved. He is a theif and has a reputaion of burning not only customers, but also vendors. Ask me how I know. Take a look at a builder by the name of Keith...

Good Ball Powder for 300 Win Mag???

I use Win 760 in my 300 WSM with 150gn Hornady SST. I have used it with 180 gn SST as well with good results. I have shot sub 2 MOA at 1000 yards with this hunting rifle. I have gotten consistant 2-3" groups at 200 yards with this load. Might also check out Win Supreme 780.

      Need help on decision

Also, if you can get to a shop with a range. Some of the gun shops with ranges rent guns. It might be worth the time and money to do this. Talk to them and tell them what you are looking for/thinking about, and they might be able to point you in the right direction. (Don's guns is NOT the place...

      Need help on decision

Go to a gun show where you can walk around and handle a lot of different guns. Then pick what feels best. Some will tell you what to get, but what works for one may/will not work for someone else. For self defense, my recomendation would be at least a 9mm. But get what you feel comfortable with...

      Dogs &ammo don't mix

No problems to fire. Cases get dents on occasion. When you fire, the case will form to the chamber. I've had dents in cases from over lube when reloading. Loaded them up and shot them with no issues.

      Powder measure

I have used the Lyman 55 powder measure and also the Hornady LNL. I much prefer the Hornady measure. With the metering inserts, it is easy to change between calibers. It is accurate and repeteable. I made a stand for it and it is a breeze to use. The Hornady typically runs about $60-75.

      New hunting property

^THIS. Also, find the does and the bucks will be there eventually. If you are hunting gun season only, you could still get in one scouting trip without screwing it up, if you are careful with your scent.

Nashville & Bloomington Area Deer Processors

Process it yourself. It isn't that difficult. I processed for the first time last season and it wasn't that bad. You need a couple of good knives, a cutting board and a cooler. Quarter up the deer and put it in the cooler. Take the quarters out and cut the fat off, then slice up into steaks and...

      Climbing Deer Stand

On public land I like the climbers. On private land I love the ladderstands. Set them up and be done with it. Climbers have their place and do very well. But having hunted on private land, it's so nice to not have to carry an extra 25 lbs on my back up those hills. Summit makes a great stand. So...

      .44 mag round

I have used a 44 rifle for a few years now. I took a 10 pointer with my Marlin 1894 with a 240 XTP over Win 296. I hit the near shoulder, both lungs and the top of the heart, through the far shoulder and lodged just under the skin. It weighed 228 grains and expanded to 0.73". Thats 95% weight...

      Any Savage shooters?

I have a Savage 110 FCP HS in 338 Lapua. It is completely stock except the scope(SWFA SS 16x42 fixed power) and the bipod(Harris fixed 6-9"). It is as accurate as I can be. On average I can hit 5-8" groups at 1000yards. My best group I've shot with it was about 3" at 1k. It has the Accu-trigger...

      Cooling deer in early season

We process them at the cabin ASAP. We skin and quarter them and put in a cooler with ice. When we get home, the next night we have a cutting party. All 3 of us and usually my buddy's wife and daughter start cutting the quarters up and then into the freezer.

AR15's. What are you NOT a fan of?

What do I dislike? The AR15. Haven't shot one that I've liked.
