      Waxworms, Bemoths, Grubs....

The price of behemoth in the small container is extremely high. If you buy the large tub, they don’t last long enough to get them used up. Several years ago, I discovered that if they are kept covered in a closed container of vodka, they will last for a long time. I have kept them from one year...

Heating when there is no electricity

I have used alternative heat methods since the blizzard of ‘78. Had a new daughter that was only six months of age. We were without power for five days and absolutely no way of leaving the house. At the time we had a Ben Franklin fireplace for emergency heat and as a means to reduce heating...

      WTB: Ruger precision

Looking to purchase a Ruger precision in 308. Would prefer a gen III but would also look at earlier, low round count model. Do not have to have scope with it.

      Trespasser in my woods

Phylodog , I appreciate your correction on game retrieval. I am an old dog and I was going on what I was told several years ago by a Dep. Sheriff. I now have more knowledge and can approach those that like to treat our property as their own, with fact. Thank you

      Trespasser in my woods

I understand that refusal can be made but, its also my understanding all they have to do is talk to LEO and they will be escorted to retrieve the animal. Who does that benefit? Result remains the same, just wasted the time of a member of law enforcement and they still get what they wanted in the...

      Trespasser in my woods

The various responses suggest how confusing this whole issue is with land owners. Another "trick" is the claim that a wounded deer ran on your property and they need to retrieve it. If you know or feel they shot the animal on your property, you can not stop them from retrieval. Unless there is...

      Trespasser in my woods

Coon hunters have been an ongoing problem on our farm. Their latest tactic has been to claim they are just retrieving their dogs. If I don't catch them in the act, they just continue to hunt. Just makes me mad as hell, there is really nothing I can do about it. I guess they do have a right to...

      Heating house with wood fireplace

I have heated with wood for several years. I believe it saved our lives during the blizzard of '78. Bought a new outside boiler to replace the free standing stove we had used prior. Long story short. Had to get homeowners policy renewed and they would not insure with the wood boiler installed as...

A report was written up on it after it was found to be stolen. I don't know if anything further has gone on with it.

      Ruger SR1911 Government Size 5” 45ACP: BUY??

My SIL is a cop, asked him to run numbers for me. I would think that the police dept would be happy to run them for you. How else can you protect yourself from the low lives selling stolen items.

      Ruger SR1911 Government Size 5” 45ACP: BUY??

My grandson is looking at sr1911's. Found one on armslist that he inquired about. It was pictured so that the serial # was visible when image was enlarged. I told him to call the #'s in to check. Found out it was a stolen gun out of Indy. Just beware....

I think something is getting my chickens!

I have lost several ducks this summer and figured it was a raccoon until my grandson caught an owl in the act. My wife seen it after that on several occasions. We have lost about six ducks to him. Talked to DNR officer and was told I couldn't kill the damn thing. I had to put a cover over the...

      The Bite?

We were able to get out a couple weeks ago during the warm spell. Found the fish suspended in 15-20' of water at about 8-10' on jigs down the middle of our pond. Not crazy fast bite but, steady. Ended with a good mess of fish. Crappie and bass.
