How does this happen? Buys stolen gun from retailer?

Maybe the original owner had already been paid out by his insurance company so the carbine might not have legally belonged to him anymore, it would be property of the insurance company to send it to auction, to recoup the claim loss?

      Thoughts on private gun sales

Did he include the bonus ammo too I hope. A glob of cosmoline in the wrong place could have gotten one more hapless s.o.b.

      Politeness in the classifieds

I agree it is onerous. When I had Geico the agent told me I had to have BoS or receipt too in the event of a loss. I can't find it on their website for non members, so maybe its changed now? I probably should have said all my experiences dealing with firearms insurance, both companies had this...

      Politeness in the classifieds

Most insurance companies require some kind of receipt or proof of ownership/value. BoS is pretty understandable.

      Ruger Customer Service and Warranty

For legal purposes they state they have no warranty. Nearly the same thing happened with me as the OP, they wouldnt even let me pay for the spring. Ruger really rocks! Also I'll leave this video here, part one of several videos they have about their operations...

looking for feedback on a Benelli M4
