Help me find the parts (AR)
If you're wanting millspec bayonet capable, I think the following combinations are standard: Carbine length gas system = 14" barrel Mid-length gas system = 16" barrel Rifle length gas system = 20" barrel Everything else is going to be custom fitment of some kind. Just my 0.02 Edit... -

Piston AR build - problems
Back when I was messing with the 300 they were called the whisper. That was a few years back so things may have changed. What i recall is, if you want to shoot subsonic suppressed and cycle you have to have a pistol length gas system and a 12" barrel minimum. Also that was a DI system...- Foxfire

Stripped Colt Lower: Pistol Build?
If the Op gets a stamp /SBR, doesn't that cover him if he wants to configure as a pistol? And allows him to move it back and forth? -

"Multi- caliber" I don't think it matters when SBRing an AR receiver. Once you have the stamp you can swap barrel lengths and calibers. This is what I read/was told years ago when I did mine. Please correct me if I'm wrong.- Foxfire
