Born in Columbus, OH, but grew up in MD/VA. VA had the most influence on me. Although I will never insult southerners by calling myself one, I do adhere to the southern values of true southern gentlemen and ladies. God, country, family, #2A, masculinity, good-manners, respect, courtesy are just some of the values.
My career required me to live in Florida, Texas, and Mexico (for 5 years and, yes, I do speak Spanish.). I recently retired to Indianapolis, IN and am as happy as a cicada in a rug. BTW, where the heck are all the brood cicadas? Indiana is supposed to be ground zero of "Invasion USA," but I have yet to hear one chirp. "It's still too cold," cried one during an interview on a national news network. To paraphrase a great man who is no longer with us, they must be from Rio Linda. FYI: ground temp must be +65 degrees for brood cicadas to emerge. Now, where was I?
After graduating high school in VA (I majored in immaturity and underachievement) I was an auto mechanic until I turned 24. That is when I was introduced to the world of computers. I was hooked, immediately, so I decided to become a pencil-neck for the next 40 years working in IT and management consulting. Of all the fields I worked in, agribusiness and large-scale manufacturing were my favorites.
I always knew I would eventually move back to the Midwest. Overall, I find people here to be the friendliest. (Sorry, my Southern brethren, you placed in this race.) However, nothing turns a man into a quivering bowl of JELLO faster than the accent of a true southern lady. Men, consider yourselves forewarned.
Lastly, and most importantly, I sincerely thank the men and women, past and present, of the U.S. Armed Forces and of law enforcement for protecting my sorry backside (my son currently serves in the U.S. Space Force). Without you there would be no freedom; which is to say we would have absolutely nothing. I am indebted and eternally grateful.
