      Unholstering at home

Yeah, I'm not going in residences. I do industrial field service, typically in a factory setting. Most have No Firearms policies. If I got caught, I'd be fired, and my employer would likely lose a customer. With all the bending, and squatting I have to do, it's unlikely I could get away with...

      Unholstering at home

Thanks again everyone. It's great to hear the different practices, and even more, the reasoning behind it. Looks like I can stick with what I'm doing, for now.

      Unholstering at home

      That's a great idea, thanks.

      Unholstering at home

Thanks for the confirmation, guys. It's just me, my wife, and 17 year old son. The wife won't touch any of my guns unless she has to. Can't get her to come to the range with me. The son knows gun safety, and is familiar with firearms operation. He knows not to mess with it, and to consider...

      Unholstering at home

I've been carrying for about 5 years now, and just realized that one of my procedures may not be the right way to go about things. I'm allowed to carry at work, but often have to enter client's businesses, and have been asked, by my employer, to disarm when entering a customer's site. When I...

Could you have stopped the evil?

I'm sorry. I assumed it was. I agree. The exact circumstances will dictate the course of action.

Could you have stopped the evil?

I don't consider saving my family, and surviving to raise my children, and provide for them "doing nothing"

Could you have stopped the evil?

Camera monkey pretty much summed it up for me. We can trade "what ifs" all night. It's impossible to consider all the variables in something like this. The scenario was "at fifty yards, could you make the shot". With the weapons I choose to carry, and my own skill level taken into account, I...

Could you have stopped the evil?

I guess my priorities are a little different than most. My number one priority, and the reason I carry, is to protect myself and my family. If I'm any distance away from the shooter in that Walmart, I plan on extending that distance, and getting my family safely out of there. I'm not likely to...

      Carry at Indianapolis Indians Game?

Went to a game last week. My buddies left their carry pieces in the vehicle "just in case". I carried my P99c in, concealed, for a similar reason: "just in case". No pat downs or metal detectors. Just walked right in, like it should be. Enjoyed a nice afternoon at the ball park.

[DGU] The 'Defensive Gun Use' Thread

Still would like to know how this started. Did they let him in, did he force his way in? Did they know him? Lots of unanswered questions. This is very close to home for me as well, and not really an area you would expect this to happen. If anything, I guess that's the lesson: you have to...

Thanks! Looks like they're done for the year.

Police And Community Unite In Handgun Course

Anyone have any info on signing up for this? All the Google links I found are dead. I couldn't find anything on the Boone County sheriff's website either...

      Do you carry at home?

Almost always. Around the house, and elsewhere. I can carry at work, but have to disarm when entering a client's place of business. I also have to disarm at church, since there is a school attached. Not really happy about being disarmed in such a soft target.

      "Carrying" in Illinois is exhausting

Thanks for that info. That would have made things a little more bearable, but if you're carrying with one in the chamber, you still have to load and unload that round, and keep track of it. You can't just drop the mag and throw them in a case to carry into the motel.
